***UPDATE*** kettle died 12/1/2020. Electrician friend could not fix.this kettle Was a huge waste of money. I will never buy another SMEG product.
I splurged on this kettle based on it's appearance/style and brand. It is very cute, but the quality and performance has been horrible. Within the first couple weeks of use, the lid started sticking and the SMEG letters fell off - some even broke! The SMEG letters are foil stickers - not metal or even plastic. I've tried super-gluing the letters back on, but the heat from the kettle melts the glue and they quickly fall off again. This is extremely disappointing considering the price point. I would not recommend this product and will not purchase another SMEG product.

Lid fail after 9 months!! Poor paint job(lid paint bubbles)!! Totally failed purchase. Hope you choose another brand. DON'T GET FOOLED BY ITS FANCY LOOK.

The lid is not standing correctly and the "S" fell off the body the first time I used the kettle.
I have many Smeg products and I like the brand but this kettle is not at the same quality.
I do not recommend this product as it will dissapoint you.

That being said, all the SMEG products look like little retro Cadillacs ob you counter if thats what you are aiming for or make you happy, design-wise they will make you happy :-)
So cool..even though a bit disappointing

I have been a SMEG fan and customer for over 25 years. Asia from good quality and stylish you are of course paying more for the name. This item is a perfect example. I was really disappointed at the quality and all around. I knew full well that I would be changing my AMAZING Quisinart for something I wanted to look pretty on my counter at my new place. For a fraction of the price you give up things like 7 temp controls, all stainless and other perks. The SMEG has an on/off..thats it. What I didn't expect was how cheap if was made...its very PLASTIC-Y. Lots and lots of plastic from the handle to the stand. I am assuming the chrome paint will take a while to wear because its SMEG but it will in fact...wear. Looks FAB! but again...very plastic-y to the touch as soon as you pick it up. Its a shame because at 200%-%400 the price of VERY good kettles they could have made this much better.By AMAZON SHOPAHOLIC on August 5, 2017
