About the Author
Time warping twenty years into the future, skipping over numerous learning experiences in other fields of work, Jeff now writes mystery and thriller books starring David Wolf--a cop from the Colorado Rocky Mountains with a good heart and pair of fists to match.
Currently there are nine full-length David Wolf Mystery Thriller series novels and one short story. The first novel, Foreign Deceit, is an international mystery-thriller he wrote while living in Italy for eleven months with his wife and son. The next eight books in the David Wolf Series are set in the western United States.
If you enjoy well-plotted mystery thrillers with a hint of romance, humor, plenty of action, and adventure, then the David Wolf series is for you.
When not writing, Jeff enjoys golfing, hiking, camping, and whatever his two sons are into at that particular moment. You can keep in touch and learn more at JeffCarson.co (no "m"). About the author

Jeff Carson is the Amazon-Bestselling author of the David Wolf Series. Set in the high country of Colorado and mountain west, his books are chock-full of action, mystery, thrills, and suspense. Add a bit of humor and romance, a colorful cast of characters, all set in ruggedly beautiful territory, and it's clear why the David Wolf series is gaining acclaim.
The first novel in the David Wolf series, Foreign Deceit, is an international mystery-thriller he wrote while living in Italy for a year with his wife and son. The next thirteen books in the still ongoing series are set in the mountain-western United States.
Jeff acquired a love for adventure-thriller-mystery-suspense fiction at a young age by listening to audio books while driving the vast landscapes of the western U.S. with his family. One leg of a trip from Denver to Payette, Idaho (to visit relatives) was enough time to squeeze in a good Cussler, a Christie, a Child, a Silva, a Box, a Flynn, or one of the others he considers master story-tellers. Now he incorporates many the same elements of those authors in his own writing.
Jeff and his wife, Cristina, currently live with their two sons in Colorado.

When Wolf finally begins to move around, he realizes he’s being watched by the FBI. He calls the only person he knows who may be able to tell him why, Special Agent Kristen Luke. Instead of a normal answer, Agent Luke’s phone simply clicks on and he can overhear a conversation … then his name. The Sluice-Byron Sheriff’s Department has received an anonymous tip stating that Wolf killed his wife and is tied in with a drug cartel operating in the area. As proof, the caller tells them where to find the murder weapon. Already caught up in some suspicious murders and odd behavior of fellow agents, Luke warns Wolf to run because he can easily be murdered in jail.
From this point forward, the story picks up a frantic pace. Luke joins Wolf on his run for freedom and puts her life and career on the line to help him.
In this case, this is merely a continuation of book five and there is no additional character development. The reader is expected to know the backstories of the characters and the crimes. If one doesn’t remember the details from previous book, the story becomes a tedious read. It is definitely not a stand alone book.
Special Agent Kristen Luke of the FBI is playing a dangerous game and risking her career... Wolf gets help from unexpected places... The trail leads across the mountains — and back...
The description of the new combined SBCSD department was so good I have a visual in mind. This was a fast-paced story with lots of action. I was immersed in the book from the beginning — after COLD LAKE, I wanted to see what Wolf would do next. There were twists and turns and surprises aplenty. This is another one of those page-turners I read straight through because I had to know what was going to happen. I never suspected the guilty party, so the big reveal was a shocker! I very much enjoyed the last chapter...
Three months after his traumatic injuries, David Wolf is walking again, but is still in a tremendous amount of pain. Nothing else has really changed in his life. David decides he has to solve his ex-wife's murder and starts asking questions around town, even though he faints or just falls asleep every once in a while! This stirs everything and everyone up; S.A. Luke decides she has to help David, even if it means her job.
Wolf is a man who does not give up; the twists and turns this case takes will have you wondering if you are imagining things! This is a very exciting and interesting read!

enough of the background to this story.
At the end of book 5, Sheriff David Wolf is severely injured and is now struggling to recover, back
home but unable to even walk far without passing out. His home is rudely invaded by a bunch of
FBI agents, including his friend, Kristen Luke, and they want to prove he murdered his ex-wife.
When the trap starts to close, Wolf escapes and goes on the run with Luke who believes in his
innocence. They don't know who to trust and there are several traitors throughout the story.
The FBI, a huge drug cartel and both sets of deputies from the newly joined law enforcement agency
are all involved in this story.
The book was very fast paced, rather complicated and with twists at the end which I hadn't figured out.
How Wolf can be so badly injured and still survive is a miracle! I have enjoyed all the Wolf books (not
always read in the right order!) but this book was one of, if not the, best of the lot. Highly recommended.

Would recommend reading more by Jeff Carson. He has a way of writing that makes you want to keep reading, chapter after chapter.
