By the time I was just a few minute into this pilot I was getting mad at myself. I was thinking, "As many times as this actor has given unforgettable performances that either broke my heart or made me laugh till I hurt, why haven't I ever bothered to learn his name!?" Well, with deep apologies to Giovanni Ribisi, I swear that's not going to happen again. The last few seconds of this pilot in which Ribisi and Margo Martindale exchange a few words and a couple of 12-gauge glances, hit like electricity, and now I'm writing this review just to dissipate some of the anxiety from not being able to watch the next episode! Hurry up already, Amazon! And look at this cast! Even the guest stars are Debra Monk and Domenick Lombardozzi for crying out loud. But look, both Ribisi and Martindale have been in some stinker television productions, which is evidence that great actors can't always save crappy writing. The writer/producer of Sneaky Pete, David Shore, has given them some great stuff to work with and created a terrific balance of taught drama, comic relief and even action. This is good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 starsI really enjoyed this show

Spoiler Free!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this show. Giovanni Ribisi typically plays rolls where his character is odd in some way, and because he is good at it, it works. His character in this show is a very different Giovanni, and he is once again excellent in his performance. He is very good in a typical acting role, one that I don't ever remember him doing. Anyway, he is a star in this!

The acting throughout the cast is good to great! It will definitely make you think a little, and the characters you'll care for and dislike. Very well done, different from many shows, and something where I cannot wait to see season 2! Starting watching at 8:00 on a Saturday night, was finished by noon the next morning. Yes that good and you'll be curious about what happens next.

I really loved Breaking Bad (Favorite show of all time!), Stranger Things, OZ, Seinfeld, Man in the High Castle, Mad Men, Dexter, etc. Really don't watch much Over The Air (OTA) broadcasts. NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX do have some very good shows, but I prefer the shows that have a little more depth, more realistic with cursing, and acting that is great in so many areas. This is worth your while, truly!

Giovanni has grown into a leading man role. We remember watching him as a teen or young adult actor and always thinking what he might evolve into from a actor perspective. Well he has clearly become a "leading man" candidate and it is well deserved. This series is intriguing, climatic, funny and dramatic. Seldom do you find all these rolled into one show and then delivered with TV/Cinematic sincerity. Listen to me, if you want a series that will captivate you, fully develop characters so you can like or despise them and at the right speed/time and then blow you away with the plot; you MUST tune in and watch this series.

5.0 out of 5 starsAbsolutely LOVED this series! Better than most on HBO, Showtime etc.! A show you WATCH, not RECORD for later!!

This series catches you ( Maybe by the 1st, or 3rd eps.) and like a great book that you just can't put down, it has you longing to see what happens next!! It's not an " edge of your seat super thriller" , it's emotional , thought provoking , takes you inside the criminal minds not just their world. It's has the good , the bad & the in between & then adds in the ones your never quite sure of. It has heart, but not so much that it's silly or sappy. It has depth, but everyone can enjoy it, meaning some will " get" certain scenes, meanings, & others won't yet both will still enjoy it . It's exciting , it makes you think, laugh, love some characters & hate others( while some you can't figure out if you like or hate them!) . Each eps kept me wanting more & I was excited to see the next. Not many series like that now. This is one that I would make sure I was always home on time to watch when it aired, instead of recording it & watching it when I could!! Remember those series?? When you would be pissed if you missed 10 min of the episode let alone missed it & had to watch it later!! Yeah, this is like that. It's not a fast paced-guns blazing- car chases in every scene . It's better. It has feeling & it makes you feel things for the charecters, you connect to them, see sides of yourself in some, maybe see parts of your life in the story. It's believable , not far fetched never happen crap. Yet it's not dull, there are twists & turns, guns, murder, betrayal , hurt, love , all going on often in scenes that look to be like an everyday nice family , & that's REAL.
This had me after the 2nd eps. , it took a bit to really grab me but once it did, I was hooked! I was so upset when I watched the last episode and had no more, left hanging , WITH QUESTIONS, & another Twist!!! Now I wait with baited breath for the new season to come on!!!! It's def a BINGE worthy series!
I think this will catch on & become a very well know series. Great actors, well liked & they play their roles greatly, leaving you believing they ARE these people & not who you've seen them play before.
One of the greatest things I found on my new Amazon stick! I have KODI as well & have many choice. This is something to watch!
Hope I help someone to take a chance & watch this show. I truly believe you will be happy you did~

4.0 out of 5 starsSharp ex-prisoner befriends jail-bond brokers and all learn a few new tricks.

Sneaky Pete has an interesting story line about a released prisoner swapping identity with a fellow inmate who still has several years remaining. Actor Giovanni Ribini is believable in his role of wise slight-of-hand expert with a photogenic memory who finds the home of his fellow inmate's grandparents (who run a bail/bond business ) and convinces them that he is indeed their grandson whom they haven't seen in 20 years. Fears that he will do harm to the family are removed once his true character is revealed.

Margo Martindale is a fun character who plays a wise grandmother with a secret of her own. She takes no crap from anyone and is highly intuitive as she feels there is something wrong with Pete's story but can't quite figure it out. Remaining actors are well suited for their parts including Brian Cranston who plays the evil villain to whom Pete owes $100,000. There is actually a policeman in the farm family who believes Pete is his long lost childhood cousin. Their interactions are hilarious as each comes close to revealing pieces of their past (or current status as Pete continues to attempt to find ways of paying back his debts to 'Vince' and save his brother who they are holding (and torturing) until the debt is paid off). Occasionally the episodes drag with detail, and the violence is gratuitous. We continue to watch none-the-less and look forward to seeing how Pete resolves his dilemma and what happens when the real grandson returns to the farm. I would give 5 stars, but for the gratuitous violence.

Amazon hits it out of the park again. What a 10 Episode Masterpeice. Everything, the Casting, Acting, Directing and especially the Plot, story, and the script. Its get no more fun than this. Probably the smartest, cleverest, Sting ever put on Film. Its very hard not to binge watch this.
They better have a season 2 and 3 and 4, or their should be a members Strike. Great Job Amazon. This was in a league all of its own.
But, why so long from the Pilot to the season ? - Please dont make us wait to long for season 2
j.p. from utah - P.S. Roll every con ever pulled on the "Rockford Files", into one, and they would not be very close to the cleverness of this. Yost is one of the most brilliant creators and writers around.

The best Amazon original series I've seen so far. Top notch cast - Margo Martindale and Giovanni Ribisi are two of my favorites. Well written, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through - the storyline was strong enough that there was no need to go overboard with sex or violence to attract viewers like most shows do these days. I did try to just watch one or two episodes a week and pace it out, but I ended up going through them in just 2 weeks because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Without spoiling the season 1 story arc, every episode was packed with suspense, just enough back story to keep you in the dark with just a glimmer of light being cast, a little humor, and kept the main storyline moving along at a good pace with a cliffhanger at the end of every episode. It was wrapped up pretty satisfactorily at the end as well (most shows do a ton of build up with very little pay off - Sneaky Pete actually saw the storyline through to the end) plus it transitioned smoothly into the potential for a whole new story arc in the final minutes of episode 10. Here's hoping for more great seasons of this series.

5.0 out of 5 starsAnd I love Banshee BTW

A show that attracts you.

Frankly, the main logic is quite similar to Banshee that someone come back hiding with some plans. And I love Banshee BTW. But this show is attractive in a different way. The characters are less powerful, sometimes even desperate for other's mercy. But the stories are well told with everybody's contributions that lead to a big picture of family, revenge and survival. Surprisingly, it touches many layer of our society shows the struggle and fun of normal people. The plotting was not as fancy as the Oceans## movies, but everything converges to the happy ending in an engaging way.

Great actors/actresses. Great story line. Great screenplay. Looking forward to the next season.
