Trey and Lita met at an establishment while she awaited the end of semester get together with her daughter Meeka short for Tameeka! Initially Trey approached Lita to rescue her from an eager beaver too young for her man that did not know how to take the hint that she was not interested. As the night progressed they learned their connection was one that would not end at the end of the night because Meeka appeared with Jamil who just happened to be Trey's son and they had two big announcements to make. Reese, you took what could have been a disastrous relationship between these four people and wove it into something beautiful and heartwarming! I am so glad that you positioned the characters the way you did because it showed that family does not have to always be what society has proclaimed as the norm! Trey and Lita were both very well grounded individuals who were not afraid to go for what they wanted and needed which could possibly explain why their respective children could so easily do the same! I am so glad you penned this story and the care and concern you gave the subject matter and the characters! I told you Reese that you Rock and so does this story! Great Job as per usual!

Sassy Lita Woods and debonair Trey Hampton lock eyes across a bar and the level of interest only increases from there. Even though, unbeknownst to them, they are meeting to discover that their youngest offspring are engaged and expecting a baby.

While they are both blindsided by this news, Lita is more shocked since her daughter, Meeka has never mentioned Jamil or dating anyone seriously; whereas, Trey has spent significant time with Meeka.

While the grown-ass kids (as they like to remind their respective parents) have a struggle to get Trey and Lita on board with their future plans, the chemistry and spark keeps growing between Lita and Trey.

I loved, loved, loved this story of a mature couple (over 40) dealing with real world problems and accepting the decisions of their children, while offering and providing all the support the kids will allow. I say kids, but Meeka and Jamil are both over 20.

There’s a little bit of humor, a lot of sass, tons of chemistry, and each couple gets their happy ending and a beautiful baby girl, Malia, bonds the two families forever.

I discovered this book by accident. I was looking for another title, stumbled across this one and was intrigued by the premise. And, for the most part, I was not disappointed.
It was interesting seeing this trope from the perspective of the parents who fell in love rather than the blindsided kids. It was great, the way Lita and Trey got along and supported both one another and their children even as they felt their kids weren’t quite ready to be parents. I just wish it was longer, that I could see the romance fleshed out a bit more. Because of the length, it also felt out of place when the author reminded us of side characters. It wasn’t long enough for me to forget names. Or, I understood it for Lita’s friends since they only appeared once. But not a reminder of Trey’s son being the father of Meeka’s baby. They were nearly as central as the main couple.

Both Lita and Trey are single parents, having married young, then divorced and raising their children alone. When they find their children, having met in college and have fell in love and also are expected a child, they see their children going down the same path they took, and try to provide other options.
However Meeka and Jamil are determined to marry,finish college and raise their child in a loving two parent home. Lita and Trey are supportive and in supporting and preparing for the children's marriage and their first grandchild, they fall in love.
I loved when Lita put Dale, her first husband who left her in search of younger women,
in her rear view mirror when he comes sniffing around asking for a do over.
