With 19 micron video heads for optimized EP recording, this Sony 4-head VCR delivers your favorite shows with sharp image definition, high-fidelity sound and much more. Instant replay feature makes it easier to replay sports or movie scenes you didn't catch the first time. With the touch of a button, commercial skip zips you forward to the exact time the show returns. Flash rewind rewinds a full T-120 tape in about 60 seconds. Index scan helps you find the beginning of a show or where to start recording. Auto tracking optimizes the picture for you. Auto head cleaner provides low-maintenance operation and clean playback. Easy, plug-and-play set up with auto tuner presets and auto clock set. Features 1 month/8 event-recording timer, multi-lingual on-screen display and front A/V inputs for camcorders or game systems. Dual azimuth 4-head recording and playback. Comes with coaxial video cable with F-type connector and multi-brand TV remote control. No. SLVN500. 14-1/4Lx10-1/8Wx3-3/4H".
Make the most of what you watch on tape with the SLVN500 hi-fi VHS videocassette recorder. At a compact 14 inches wide, this VCR is packed with convenience features designed to simplify recording and viewing, from one-month, eight-event advance programming to commercial skip. Its front audio/video inputs are great for quickly hooking up a camcorder, game console, or second VCR.
The SLVN500's four-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, and with hi-fi sound the unit records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded cassettes.
A feature called instant replay backs the tape up 10 seconds for each touch of the replay button for quick recaps of a missed line or exciting action. The VCR automatically marks the tape with an index signal at the point where each recording begins so you can easily scan back to the start of a recording using these signals as a reference. Other features include 19-micron heads (for the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in extended-play mode), digital auto tracking, instant replay, flash rewind, a multilingual onscreen display, and a multi-brand remote control. ChildLoc circuitry locks the VCR after the timer has been set so young hands don't accidentally cancel programming.

#1 Its got a kicking rewind/fast forward mechanism that is super fast.
#2 It shows on screen how much time is remaining on each tape, as it should, but also includes a little diagram that displays where you are on the tape. Beginning-ish / Middle-ish / End-ish
#3 It's built like they USED to build things. I must have run 50 tapes through this thing already, old, dirty tapes, fast forwarding, rewinding and this beast is still ticking.
#4 The tracking is boss. I don't ever remember the tracking on these things being very good but this VCR gets it right all the time.
#5 The memories - I mentioned that my wife was a bit ticked when she found out the price for a used VCR, well after watching hours and hours of old home movies, she is not so mad.
#6 It has 3 audio visual connectors - 2 in back and one in the front. I love the front ones for convenience. I plan on connecting this monster to my PC via the EasyCapture system and capturing all those great memories.
#7 The remote works great and has a decent reach for it's age and also includes an eject button.
Buying ancient devices like this one can be risky and apparently expensive, so do a bit of research and try to get this model if you can. I haven't cleaned it yet but I do suggest purchasing a head-cleaner. You can buy them right here on Amazon.
