I know I wrote a review about this book and the previous two horrible reads, but for some reason they keep disappearing! Do not waste your hard earned money on this mess the women in these stories are horrible! They treat the men like they're perverts and the men just keep coming back for more begging and pleading for them to accept who they truly are it's sad! Lock and Deep go above and beyond for Kat to try and help her stupid friends but she never once appreciates their efforts until lock pretty much gives his life to save someone she doesn't know from Adam and then she's all devastated he's gone?! Unless you want to end up wanting to chuck your e-reader across the room I wouldn't suggest purchasing these books!

Three is not a crowd: Deep, Kat, & Lock (SPOILERS POSSIBLE)

This is Kat O’Connor’s story and what a story it was. I was not entirely sure that I would enjoy this tale as much as the first two because I’ve never been big on stories about poly-amorous relationships (they just aren’t an interest of mine,) but this story changed my mind.

Kat O’Connor is a heroine that I identify with most of all because she has unease in regards to her body, without being whiny and overbearing about it. She is a reasonable young woman with a good head on her shoulders that doesn’t just want to jump in a relationship with Deep and Lock, Twin Kindred, without being certain that it is what all three of them want. I do not understand how any of my fellow reviewers can find fault with Kat wanting to feel secure in her romantic endeavors, especially when one considers her home life.

As far as the dual romantic interests, Stabs Deep & Locks Tight, there have never been a more different pair of Twin Kindred ever and yet they complement each other so well. Where Lock is sweet and tender with Kat, nearly always worrying over her and her feelings as well as comforting her when necessary. On the other hand, Deep is a contrary individual with all-consuming desire for his “little Kat.” When Deep and Kat bicker, Lock acts as their mediator. But as the trio grows closer, Deep begins to fear that it’ll all end badly due to his past and his fear causes many issues that resulted, for me, in a series of moments that made me cry.

The complex relationship between Stabs Deep, Locks Tight, and Kat was entirely all-consuming. The push and pull of their three-person relationship was so addictive that I read the entire novel in three days and when I reached the end, I mourned that fact. I want so much to read about this polyamorous relationship well past the completion of the novel because there is so much more that could be dealt with in the future. I will be re-reading the book many, many times in the future.

The third installment is definitely not for those who don't like menage a trois reads. I myself have never wanted to read about a threesome before and almost skipped this one too and just go onto the 4th one. I give the author credit for introducing Deep, Lock and Kat in the previous 2 books and giving readers a peek into the kind of story you'll be reading in their own book. The author takes a while to get these 3 together and Deep will frustrate you to no end (typical with the dark twins), but if you like threesomes, this might do it for ya.

SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT

Would I read this again? Ummmmmm...maybe and maybe not. There are scenes that lead into Xairn and Lauren's own story that is next. The amount of time it takes for the Deep, Lock and Kat to get together is a slow snail's pace and there are numerous obstacles that get in the way to the point where you're almost asking, "Is it over yet?" But if and when you get to the end, it'll be worth it. I just wish for this book that there was no follow up scene with Xairn and Lauren after they escape the home planet. The wondering if they made it out alive would have been a good cliffhangar for the next book IMO. The ending will surprise you though. Not a bad book, just slow in some parts.

NOT 'sweet' romance, not flowery, not superficial. Realistic, given the situations/people.
Strong main story and substory. VERY well defined characters, hot sex scenes, high morals, great settings.
Absorbs you - hard to put down.
MAY be too intense for some. Scourge do BAD, bad things, which though not elaborated on excessively, are still upsetting and disturbing to contemplate. Same with things like: Zairn's plight/Lauren's; Strikes Deep being decoy against the Allfather - Scourge leader; Kat's memories of domestic abuse as a child.
I didn't find it humorous. There's a few funny moments to lighten the story, like pregnant Liv putting horseradish, soy, and peanut butter on soft pretzels as they have 'girl chat' time.

I've been reading these in order, and I'd recommend you do so too. These stories *could* be real alone, BUT you'll miss out on the deeper understanding of the other characters: motives, old issues, what they've overcome, etc.

Read it over one weekend. Will reread it later, to get parts I missed.
(we usually do overlook some things when we are devouring a story ...you can take your time on the 2nd read, since you know the ending. :-) and you know where the 'interesting' scenes are, if you want to go over them again.)

Reading in order is also useful with the side-stories, or subplots, particularly the one growing with Xairn, the evil Scourge leaders' abused son, who's got Kindred genes (unknown to himself, but suspected by the Kindred who have seen him, and which we readers know by the hints of the book, will eventually come out publicly.) His story, and Lauren, the woman fulfilling the Scourge prophecy, is treated in the next novel...in this one, we see how she connects with him during her imprisonment on the Scourge mothership...(must stop, so I don't spoil the story for you)

This sets the stage for the next story in the series, so yes, you benefit from reading things in order - there's not so much preamble in the other books, naturally - each bit adds to the backstory you should know to get the most out of the actual novel that stars these characters.

So...if you don't know already: NSFW. Over 18.

IMPORTANT for many readers: these stories DO NOT promote/glorify : 'living in sin', abuse of women, promise-breaking, subjugation of women, infidelity of any sort (Warrior morals - YAY. lol), substance use/abuse, degradation, BDSM, fornication, 'making a woman' out of a barely legal female, or sex outside of a committed relationship.

Wanton or recreational violence is not promoted, either, despite the Kindred's 'warrior' culture.

*Also* important for those with morality concerns: The Kindred are engaging in sex with THEIR women, either 'claimed' brides, or those they want as such. ONLY. That = 'monogamous' relationships ONLY. Yes, YES < grabs your elbow, shakes it gently> even the 3-some of Kat/Lock/Deep is monogamous, in that you have 2 psychically bonded twins whose biology requires (all Twin Moons Kindred do) trio relationships to reproduce. No taint of infidelity or 'swinging' is present. It's just how their People are put together...unlike other stories where it's just lust-driven and is infidelity by definition, regardless of consent.( IMO, infidelity is never healthy fantasy material - would never, ever want to be cheated on, or see my friends cheated on.)

YES, there's 'premarital sex' BUT, consider this: the Kindred are NOT Humans, and not bound by Human religious standards; they ARE however, female-honoring E.T. (extraterrestrial) warriors who DON'T tolerate misuse/disrespect of women...especially THEIR women. That means no casual sex/throwaway relationships :-D and drama. By the time a bride is 'claimed' it's nearly 100% certain she's going to be won over/consent over the 4 week bonding period required by contract. (see first novel).

DARNED cool pre-arranged marriage method, IMO. 'Course, it helps that the warriors are all great looking (viva genetic trading!).

I thought I'd hate it, but I took a chance since I liked the previous stories. Glad I did.

Kat is the best fiend of Olivia and Sophia. She will do anything to help them even putting her own life in danger so when Sophia had been lost on earth after ditching she didn’t hesitate to help find them by joining with Lock and Deep on a mental level but no one for sore the consequences of doing so.
Even though she can see herself falling in love with Lock Deep is another matter but twin Kindred share a bride. But Deep has already lost one woman he thought he loved he doesn’t want to go through that again so he pushes her away but when both Kat and Lock are in danger he sacrifices himself to save them and it is there Goddess who saves him sending him back to them telling him not to be afraid and there is something that he has to do before crossing over into the next life.

Who wouldn’t be able to resist the twin kindred?

These books all lead on from each other and is best read in order otherwise you won’t know who people are or what is going on especially with all of the back stories and clues in each book leading throughout each book to the bigger picture.

Kat is a very curvy red head who in her mind feels like an oddity in a world of thin women. Lock and Deep are from an alien twin race who share a mate. One twin is light, happy and the other is dark and brooding as are all twins. It seems that plus size curves are a prized and admired rarity in their world. Kat's determined to politely ignore the handsome brothers until she needs their help to locate her missing friend. She finds herself having to become increasingly intimate with them to assist them in their search (due to the way their race find people, not because they push her into anything!). She's willing to risk her heart in order to help her friend but will she be risking more than that? Will the dark, brooding Deep accept her and forgive her reticence after their first meeting?
This was such an original story and I loved the brothers. The sex scenes are erotic and are very true to the characters. The boys were so different but equally interesting and loveable. I think this is my favourite book in the series

This third book in the series was definitly the one that made me reach for the tissue box, especially towards the end. Takes a lot to make me cry but the lump in my throat and the blurred vision was to much and I had to take a break and make a cuppa!
The story of Lock, Deep and Kat was filled with so much adventure it kept me at the edge of my seat all the way through to the end. If there hadn't been any sexy scenes at all I would've still been gripped to the story and that is something that a lot of erotic novelists can't accomplish. However the naughty bits were fantastic, not repetative at all which is all to common in some erotic stories. The emotional conflicts that Deep and Kat were going through were so well written and believable that it almost felt as if the author had gone through a similar experience.

When I finished this story and found details of the next book, I was totally taken aback to find I would have to wait until late in 2012 to find out what happens between Xairn and Lauren. Also I wonder if there will be a fifth book, perhaps involving Nadiah, Sylvan's cousin. So many possibilities that I think this could be a very long series of books and I hope Evangeline thinks so to.

All in all, this is one of the best series I have read and would put her on the same shelf as Christine Feehan and her 'Dark' series.

I bought this book yesterday intending to read it on my journeys to and from work over the coming week, and ended up staying up late last night and reading it in one sitting. And lucky that I read it in the privacy of my home because several times I burst out laughing so hard tears came to my tears. I honestly haven't had so much fun reading a book in a long time!

I haven't read any of the others books in the series, but since I have a thing for twins I decided to start here and make my way backwards or forwards depending on how much I enjoyed 'Sought'. I loved it, loved it!

I particularly love the way Evangeline writes her sex scenes. I thought perhaps there could have been a few more delicious 'bonding' scenes, but then I have a filthy mind and think that there can never be too much sex.

Definitely recommended!
