I love this movie. Before seeing the movie I read about the first date of these two marvelous people so I was aware of some of the things that occurred on their date. Except for the lighting of the restaurant scene, this movie did not disappoint. That scene included an important conversation and I was unable to see Barack's facial expression. It was nice to see a movie in which the two main character use conversation to get to know each other. It was novel to see two black people demonstrate respect, appreciation, candor and intelligence as they approached a possible relationship with each other. It is rare to see that in a movie about black relationships these days.
By the way, I know Barak Obama is bi-racial but he has been very clear that he does not run away from being black. In an interview with TaNehisi Coates, Barack Obama said, “it [being black] was not something to run away from, but something to embrace.”
