Spacers: Empire Space is a turning point for Thatcher. Will he be able to get back his confidence for his sake and for his crew? Bartlett doesn't disappoint; he continues on with this book to keep the reader on the edge of their seats, waiting for more. Well done, Bartlett!
As Thatcher no longer has the support of Rose, he alone must resolve the problems from the defeat as well as escaping the remaining Pirate fleet which was responsible for the Nankeen defeat. Along the way, Thatcher makes new friends, rescues old friends and engages with old enemies.
Empir Space is an excellent continuation of the Spacers series.
This is the first book in this series that when I started reading, I was having some trouble keeping engaged in the book. It started slow, slower than Scott’s books normally start. But I kept reading, and sure enough I finally got sucked in, and I couldn’t put the book down. I guess it was background building, and had to be done. And as I ended it, just like each book in the series before it, I already want the next book, even though it’s not out yet. Come on Scott, I need the next book.
So if you start reading this book and think it’s going slow like I did, keep going. You’ll be glad you did.
But underestimating the genius of Thatcher is a major mistake. Also the regard he is being held in in by some very unexpected sources.
Spacers: Empire Space demonstrates once again the axiom that a battle lost does not mean the war is lost as well.. The mounting suspense and the actions by a resourceful Frontier fleet remnant is pulse pounding stuff which I thoroughly enjoyed. And a couple of surprises as if from the left field simply compounds the sheer pleasure this installment in the Spacers series provide.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As the series continues I am becoming more and more attached to the characters and am looking forward to where the story goes in the next book.
The Spacers series are well written and it has been easy to get sucked into the Spacer’s universe.
