I received this book as a gift in return for an honest review.There are three types of reads I enjoy as a romance reader – Wolf Shifters, Fated Mates, and Reverse Harems. And Spark of Fate has it all!Rowan losses her sister in a tragic car accident that turns her family dynamic upside down. Her mom blames Rowan for Lacey’s death, and her father has taken his road to grief by never being home and only working his trouble away. Rowan hoped with a change of scenery and no one knowing them in a new town, would help her and her family start anew. But, it made her mom worse and her father more absent than ever. However, a group of boys find they have a connection with her that can only be fate’s design and know just how powerful she truly is because of the bond they have with her. Now they must protect her from those who want her for themselves and from her parent’s that have, in their own way, disown her.I loved this story line! This book had me captivated with the characters from the start. As a reader, I felt instantly connect to every character that was introduced, good and bad. They were just woven into the world so well, that they all belonged.Rowan herself has a pretty level head, despite her own grief that she is working through. I appreciated the way the author didn’t make her overly strong off that bat and gave viable reasons on why she would be doubting certain things through out the book. It was refreshing for a heroine to be tough without having a major chip on her shoulder. There is such a subtle way to present an alpha female heroine without throwing it in the readers face. And, because of that, Rowan is starting to be one of my favorite heroines.Now, let me tell you about the boys! I am not going to tell you too much because I can’t spoil it for you. But, I am a reverse harem reader that only likes three guys in the harem. I find that the ones I read with more than that struggle to balance them all out with the main character and plot. Some even feel like two or three of them are more prominent in the harem and the others fade to the back ground; to a point that you can take them out of the book and story, and it would make no difference. This book is a prime example of how to take a bigger harem and make it work well. I felt like each one had a unique personality that distinguished each one from the other. And they each have a role in the harem, allowing the story to work well with them and Rowan. No one faded for me and I didn’t find myself forgetting the others. So, for that I say BRAVO Tessa Hale!Though I did love the story, A LOT, I only had one small thing that did bother me. I enjoy an author that has a flow or rhythm to their story. And while Tessa had this in the chapters themselves and was stronger towards the end, I felt that some chapters felt like they just dropped mid thought and that made me, personally, fall out of the moment of the book. It was as if it just switched on me with no warning and it made it tough going into the next chapter to figure out where we were. But, it was very minor to me and only really happened at the beginning of the book. The second half was much better at flowing from one to another. It didn’t ruin the story for me in the least bit despite my one small issue.That being said, I do feel that Tessa has a strength in her back and forth dialogue, as well as her balancing out a big sized harem. And for that alone, I will be following this author going forward. Plus, she left me on a cliff hanger where I have more questions than answers. Not sure how I am going to wait until January for the next book, but I am excited for it and to see where she goes as a writer.Overall, I give the book a 4.5 out of 5 phases. I think there is the smallest amount of tweaking to do, but it was still a really good read over all. The characters were captivating and her story line left me yearning for more in all the right ways. I’d defiantly recommend this book if you are a fan of shifter romances or reverse harems. There is a smallest amount of smut in this one, but it really set up the series nicely.Tessa Hale has a strong story telling voice with this first book, that I am confident this series will be on my reread list in the near future.
