This book is a down to earth hilarious account of learning how to dust yourself off, shine yourself up and really learn what makes you sparkle. Cara Alwill Leyba is your average woman, and she provides real average woman advice. I'd LOVE to eat, pray and love my way to self discovery, but unfortunately that's not in my budget this year. "Sparkle" provides a realistic approach to finding your inner shine by asking you to take a few minutes somewhere in the throws of real (sometimes chaotic, stressful, demanding, teeth gritting) life. Grab a cocktail (yay) and dig down deep. Cara and I have polar opposite everyday lives, but at the core most women want to feel the same things-to feel the life in living and the love in loving. Reading Cara's journey to find her sparkle felt much like the conversation during a wine filled dinner with your best girlfriends. She dishes on the highs, the lows, the really lows and will make you laugh the whole way through. It's about a real woman who discovered what it was that would really make her happiest; and went out into the world and got it. Sparkle is a fun read and perfect for anyone in need of a little inspiration. In this case it was me. I forgot I was a person other than "Mommy." This book really put a smile on my cheerios and chocolate milk splattered face.

I only paid $4.99 for this, and didn't think it was worth that much. There's nothing particularly wrong with the content, its just been said elsewhere; better. It appears that she has a wildly popular business motivating women in business and in life, so maybe it just wasn't my cup of tea.

First and foremost I will say that I felt fabulous just reading this book and imagining how I could take the things she says and BE fabulous. I like how real and raw her advice is, it feels as though a girlfriend is just sitting with me on the couch drinking a glass of wine and catching up. However, it bothered me that there were multiple grammatical errors. I'm not talking about commas and sentence structure, I mean flat out words missing from a sentence... this bothers me but I know it's the editors fault. I also felt like Cara (the author) pushed the fact that she drinks a little too much.. yes I get it you like to drink wine and champagne and not just one glass but 3 or a bottle. In some places it just felt too forced like she was trying to be funny or cool.

This book is everything that I want to put the MOETivation to achieve...Cara is funny strong and intellegent and at the same time knows she is human and she will have her flaws but she will love them regardless!!!!

I had the pleasure of a few emails back and forth with Cara and I have to say I am speechless that there is true beauty out in this world still like her and I mean on the inside, she is sweet and caring!!

This book has made me want to put on jeans when I leave for the store and get out of my oversized sweats, like she says you never leave out looking like a hot mess..I now feel alive and ready to take on the day for me! I know that I have to live for me too...I cant express what this book means to me it was given to me at the time in my life that I needed to find me again and the words inside have giving me the courage to shimmer, shine and sparkle again!!!

While I did enjoy most of it and highlighted portions that I thought would be useful for me to look back on, I found some parts of it were not particularly relevant to me at this point in my life. She has excellent advice and really cuts through the BS and gives tough love which I adore. I have her other three and will be starting the next one tonight!
