"Oh what a fun book! I loved the characters in this book and I hope we can have whole series with them they are just that amazing! This is the first book I have read by Ms. Barbour and I was completely taken aback by how real her characters were.

One of the best examples of her genius with characters is, The O'Reilly, he was the perfect comedic relief his Irish brogue and charm were the perfect offset to the tension and drama created by Renee and Finn's jobs. While he provided his comedic relief he still managed to be a loving father and serve an integral part in the end of the book."

Undercover cops put themselves into vulnerable positions where anything could go not according to plan. All for the chance to " catch the bad guy." Renee is such a person with no hesitation to jump in and make herself a sitting duck. Her situations are breathtaking. The conclusion priceless!!

Since then she has done everything possible to be the best law enforcement officer possible rising through the ranks. Agent Hunter will never forget the night he almost captured the murderer but an inept officer let him get away. Now the murderer is back - and Hunter must work with Cora to catch him. Lots of sparks fly in this story and not necessarily the romantic kind. A great story and addition to the series.

Another great story in the Special Agent Series. I couldn't read fast enough to try and hunt down the killer along with Detective Cora and FBI Agent Kal. I had my suspicions, but boy I did Not see that ending coming. Highly recommend this series to anyone who likes a good cop story with some romance tossed in. Each book is a different Agent in a different city, no need to read them in any kind of order. Just grab one when you see it, you'll be glad you did.

Having read the first book in the FBI series by Mimi Barbour, "Special Agent Francesca," which I thoroughly enjoyed, I was looking forward to reading book two in the series. The author did not disappoint.

I was truly enthralled by this novel. I have always liked Special Agent Finnegan; his supervisor and friend Jack who always seems to be having a bad day, month or year; The Joker also known as Colin (Finn's father and a retired cop) and the addition of police officer Renée Knight in this novel. The characters are consistently written very well. They are easy to relate to, except maybe Jack 😃, are very realistic on their attitudes, behavior, and actions; and interact with one another in very honest and relatable manner.

The plot line the author chose was very interesting and had many minor plot lines running throughout. Never was one dropped or lost, but rather they were all very detailed, written very well, and easy to follow while adding a great deal of depth to the novel and the characters.

Mimi Barbour writes with great strength and realism when it comes to this series of romantic suspense novels. And each one keeps getting better than the last.

I absolutely love the character of Finn and how much Renée changed him in good ways. I love the interactions with his father and vice versa. They are realistic, solid, and truly wonderful characters. And they added to the richness of this novel.

I definitely recommend this novel, as well as the others in this series.

I enjoyed this book. Finnegan and his father are so funny together. Finn has been undercover for a long time, but got shot and had to recover. His poor father had a heart attack when told about Finn. Now Finn is thinking about retiring from the FBI. There is someone killing people and making it look like suicide. Unfortunately Renee, who is a city cop, found her beloved father killed by the suicide killer. She is heart broken, and wants her uncle Jack who is heading up the FBI investigation to let her in on the sting. The one clue they have has something to do with the pub his father owns. Renee and Finn have to work together in the pub to try and find the killer. I enjoyed watching the two get to know each other. I loved how Finn is so protective of the lines he loves. I encourage you to read the book.

Renée knows her father would never kill himself, and she vows to catch the killer. Finnegan is an FBI agent on leave since his father had a heart attack, but his boss convinces him to help Renée. As René and Finnegan work together to bring down this murderer, their hearts get involved. If you like romantic suspense, and if you appreciate feisty women, you might enjoy this story. There is action, romance, and humor.

This is an attention grabber from the first page. It held me fixated, tapping my kindle screen through to the early hours. I always promise myself I will click off at 1.00 am, but as usual I was entranced, still couched down in my pillows muttering, ‘Just one more page.’
The story sparks off with a tense situation that which swiftly had the hackles rising, as two lethal killers played with their victim. Mimi structures each chapter with the literary formula of the dramatic arch, commencing with an inciting incident, then building tension to a climax followed by a hypnotizing hook into the next chapter. This talented author plies her craft with such expertise that the reader becomes an observer closely interacting with the plot.
Coming from direct Irish and Welsh speaking families, and using the latter myself as well, this captivated me with a wholly heart gripping, portrayal of the love between father and son. My own five year old grandson has just come second in an Irish county’s poetry completion, reciting wholly in the Gaelic. So I can speak for Mimi’s level of authenticity in her use of the idiomatic dialect. In this engrossing novel, the father Joker is such a loveable character without becoming a Father Ted cliché showing Mimi’s power with the word.
The plot was scintillating and the female protagonist Rennee Knight, a feisty woman not to be crossed. This is a story filled with approaches to wife beating, serial killers and sadistic thieves in which a sexy romance sizzles between the male and female leading characters. Can’t wait for the next one.
Highly recommended.

This book is a tense page turner with wonderful characters. Finn and Renee are great and the chemistry between them sizzles, but Finn's father, The O'Reilly, is the one who really stole my heart. He is a lovable old rogue who obviously adores Finn. The father/son relationship between these two warmed my heart. Both Finn and Renee are working undercover, Finn for the FBI and Renee for the police. They understand and respect each other and make a great team when they finally work together to beat the suicide killers who took the life of Renee's father. Very enjoyable romantic suspense with some twists and turns, great characters and a satisfying conclusion.
