Do You Believe in Ghosts

4.75 stars for ⭐The Spirit of Christmas

Do you believe in Ghosts? If not you will want too after watching this movie.

The Spirit of Christmas has a lil bit of everything -- romance, mystery, and ghosts. The setting is gorgeous and actually is one of the most intriguing elements of the story. Hollygrove Inn is a gorgeous, old southern plantation-esk style bed and breakfast. Kate is a go-get-em, big city attorney that's determined to secure her big promotion. Oliver (Kate's boss) is headed to the Bahamas on vaca ...he assigns the Foresthye Estate to Kate making it her responsibility to get the Inn appraised and sold by years end -- a mere three weeks. As executor Late heads to Hollygrove to meet the third appraiser hired to look Hollygrove over. She arrives to find him sprinting to his car. She meets the caretaker, a kindly, if a bit odd man named Walter-- who is on his way out-- as the Inn closes from the 13th thru thr 25th. This seems quite strange to Kate. The holidays should be the Inn's busiest time. But Walter insists that it is "tradition." Kate's first night in the Inn she meets "Daniel," he is the ghost who haunts Hollygrove. Murdered 95 years ago on Christmas Eve, His photo and an article from the newspaper about his disappearance are displayed in the entryway.

A curse, a blessing, or maybe a miracle Kate tries to help Daniel solve the riddle that has trapped him. Along the way the tough, no nonsense lawyer falls in love with Daniel. Knowing she may only have him present in her life a mere twelve days a year is hard to fathom. However, twelve is better than none. Daniel too begins to soften his harsh, I want to be alone attitude and reveals information that helps put the pieces of what happened nearly a century ago together.

A gorgeous setting, an intriguing murder mystery, love, family ties, betrayal, and forgiveness. I love this movie I just wish it was longer. I didn't want it to end. If you love the sweet. I mean sappy sweet Christmas movies you will love this one. Even my eight-year-old granddaughter liked it. She loves fairy tales and happily ever afters. . .if you do too you will like this one.

Romance, mystery, a ghost! A wonderful movie for the romantic at heart!

This was a wonderful movie. It had romance, a mystery, and a ghost! A man was murdered years ago. Every year for the last 95 years he appears in the house he used to own for twelve days before Christmas. For twelve days he becomes flesh and blood. He has no idea who killed him or why and no idea how or why he returns at Christmas. Kate needs an appraisal on the house in order to put it on the market and settle the estate of the most recent owner. When she arrives her appraiser is running away and the caretaker insists the man encountered Daniel, the ghost. In order to prove him wrong she decides to spend the night there. What happens when she meets Daniel . . . who is very good looking, by the way . . . you'!! have to discover yourself! I definitely recommend this movie, especially if you love a good romance.

Christmas Date Night Movie
Verified purchase
This is a "bit" like Dr. Who meets Hallmark. A perfect date-night movie if your looking for something that's more of an event. It's creative, romantic, and a little suspenseful while also managing to stay somewhat wholesome and PG. There is a part or two where it gets a little cheesy or suspenseful but really it's the perfect balance of Christmas and creative story telling for an enjoyable evening snuggled in under candle light with hot cocoa and popcorn. I noticed a nod to "Scary ghosts stories of Christmas' long, long ago." And spoiler... Some are saying they literally disliked the last 30 seconds of the movie. Simply give it an alternative ending in your head but I loved it. I would have been disappointed had it gone the other way. I had to laugh at the negative reviews because those people would have given it five stars had they turned it off 30 seconds sooner. The fact that people are split on the ending also goes to show why this is a great movie to watch with friends or on a day. It's great to discuss. However my personal opinion is if you want a different ending simply make up your own ending in your head it's literally the last few moments that people seem to be so split on. I think they ended it right, but it's okay if people disagree and wish it had ended just a little sooner or went a little different.

I have come to really enjoy this movie. Being a grief educator, I felt it had a lot to say about grief/ loss, and unresolved issues, as well as,love within ourselves -- even if it was a fictional story. The music is quite peaceful and rstful. Great movie to relax by. Sometimes when I cant sleep- I watch it again.

Loved this Christmas Movie!

Fabulous film. Fabulous characters. Fabulous script. Fabulous setting. Can I just say this movie overall hit all my buttons and was absolutely, well... Fabulous!

Seriously, though. One thing that gets a bit tiring is that Christmas movies are 'soft'. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Christmas movie addict. I'll watch 'soft' till it's coming out my yin yang. But it's refreshing to see the care and effort that went into this movie. It doesn't just feel like an advertisement for Christmas or a quick (run-of-the-mill) Christmas film. It feels like a real movie, a romance, something I'd watch any time of the year.

Great job, everyone!

Bad ending!#$%

This trifling ho-ghost Daniel left his dead wife who named their son after him, because he died before he was born, in the spirit world for some iphone carrying office slave.

The worst ending ever.

Can I get a refund on the 1.5 hours I spent watching it?

Great holiday story.

Every year I try to find a different Christmas story other than the usual "Hallmark" tradition of man meets woman, sticky situation made by themselves, then happy ending. I like the happy ending part but getting their should be interesting and this movie has it. The mystery was wonderful and intriguing. So if you want a good story line, good acting and a great conclusion, you will like this movie. The fantasy is just right too.
