The overall tone and feel of the show was like a serious documentary, with different episodes playing up different styles (ex: ep. 2 was true crime, ep. 3 was paranormal investigation, ep. 4 was sports history) with their respective soundtracks from the genre. The voice of Ken Shocknek as the narrator was perfect and started each episode with the right tone. The actors that they bring in to supplement the stories are wonderful and add humor in through their "serious" and in-universe analysis of the show with their serious tone. I've definitely got a decent amount of laughs listening to them refer to the "BBPD" or use Spongebob slang "what the barnacles?" in complete seriousness. Their acting is impeccable. Truly a piece of gold, and I have already came back to rewatch the series.
Brilliant, for those of us in the “business” this is the exact comic relief that we need in these trying times. Made my day. I mean, forgetting the pickles on ones burger can be devastating. Cheri, Restaurant Owner.
Hilarious! Family friendly but maybe geared toward older kids and adults. Each episode is funny but the Sweet Victory episode was HILARIOUS! I still want to laugh just thinking about it. A must see. I really hope they make more episodes!
'"What I liked about the SpongeBob Docupants series" Hey this is easy! "By: Random Amazon Prime User" This essay is pure gold!' See it's my belief that this series was made for people who grew up watching and loving the first 4 seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants, like me. I mean not only is the show so quotable, so remarkable, so intertwined in pop culture; its ability to stay relevant and entertaining as a children's show is what makes it one of the greatest products Nickelodeon (and its parent companies) has released. The beginning of this review was a reference... it's hard to go a week without seeing a form of media or meme that doesn't reference a SpongeBob character or scene. This series in itself is just adding perspective to the old school episodes of Spongebob that I love and rewatch to this day! Add to that the stellar writing and true to form documentary style editing... It just elevates the viewing experience and leaves me engaged the entire time! Pick an episode, any episode, and you will see! What an unexpected yet fantastic addition this series was!
