This is a unique I Spy book. The illustrations are very well done and colorful. I have to say there are a LOT of these that I didn't know. That was a problem for me. While I can see having SOME answers the children won't know, I don't know that I would have chosen something with so many new things. I can see children getting frustrated by having so many answers they can't even guess correctly. It just seems like too much to me. However, if your children love bugs, they might really enjoy this. If they aren't into bugs, you might need another I Spy book better suited to them.

This is maybe aimed at the American market. I hadn’t heard of some of the creatures so checked them out. One butterfly mentioned is extinct, in 2 cases the American name is used eg “yellow jacket” for a wasp, and 6 creatures are not found in the UK. Pretty useless for encouraging a 2 year old in Essex who loves searching out mini beasts in her backyard.
