I purchased this and a full throttle life jacket. Both are youth 50-90lb sizes. The Stearns runs considerably smaller. It its my 49lb son perfectly; but if he gains 10-20 lbs it probably would not fit. The Full throttle fits but has much more room for him to grow into. I also don't like that the jacket is opn to the foam material. I could see sand or other stuff getting in there. Additionally if you want to add a crotch strap to prevent th jacket from ridding up when in the water you can't do that because the straps you see in the front run on the inside of the jacket in the back. Therefore there is no attachment point on the back of the jacket for a home made crotch strap.
Pictures show the Stearns, Full Throttle and West Marine youth life jackets. The Full Throttle and West Marine are identical just with different brand names. One picture shows how on the back of the Stearns there are no attachment points for a crotch strap.
