BEWARE!!! These are not real Steve Madden boots! I bought a pair on sale at DSW online. Real, soft beautiful leather but just a little too big. I found these boots on Amazon and ordered in a half a size smaller. I took them out of the box and they are totally not the same shoe. They are not real leather or if they are, it’s horrible quality, the sizing is off (the 9 I bought in these was way too small compared to the 9.5 real boots I had bought). The tread pattern and heel are even not the same and the font on the stitched-in tag inside the shoe is different. Returned fast af. Save your time and money and order from a shoe retailer or the SM site.

These boots feel hard and cheap. They are not comfortable at all and even just trying them on I couldn’t wait to get them off! Although the description says leather, the tag says synthetic. I also think it’s strange that the back of the heel is a totally different shape in the stock photo than the pair I received. They look like any other pair of basic black booties. Pass.

Really stylish, great looking shoe. The "leather" surface is not durable, the toe area got scratched and peeled off when I was climbing steps, and shoe polish does not make the damage go away. It is a relatively heavy shoe. The size 6 was too small and the 6.5 too large, which I resolved by adding an insole.

Despite what the label says, the black boots are NOT real leather. They looked fine, but if the label says leather, I expect leather, not some imitation garbage that's going to flake off in a few months. I feel that's very dishonest and misleading. I saw the other reviews with pictures of the black boots flaking off and that is definitely what would have happened with these after some wear when it began creasing or I scuffed them or something. That is what pleather does, as it's literally just plastic and is not made for longetivity.

It seems the other colors are fine though, judging from the reviews. Mine looked like the pictures. They felt a little weighty. I can't speak to how they fit though because I was sent the incorrect size anyway.

So keeping all of this in mind, they aren't the worst thing ever if you know what you're expecting to get. I think however if they aren't real leather they are overpriced and you can find similar quality boots from cheaper brands.

I hope this is just because I purchased these off Amazon and not because Steve Madden is intentionally being misleading as I generally like the brand. But I'm sorely disappointed in these.

For those who have trouble differentiating based on sight alone, real leather has a smell to it that is very distinct and is rather unmistakable. If you are still unsure, put a couple drops of water on your item and if it's leather, it should soak in.

I really wanted to like this boot because of the trendy style and sturdiness of the shoe. They look great with anything and are comfortable for the most part. I’m typically 6/6.5 and the size 6 fit perfectly. My toes didn’t feel squished and they still felt roomy even with the smaller size. But i needed more arch support and less weight on my feet so i will sadly return them.

Oddly, only the right one was tight ... on the top part of my foot. Maybe my right foot has a problem ? LOL
I had a cross-country trip booked so no time to return them. Looked up how to stretch a boot. *Partially filled zip-lock bags with water & placed in freezer over night (water expands when frozen). Don't laugh, it worked a charm!
Used "Kiwi Parade Gloss" shoe wax in the morning. Brilliant! All better!

*If you don't know how to do a genuine "spit wax" on your own shoes, i.e., you're a tadpole, don't try this boot-stretching technique.
