Lectured by the Left again
Verified purchase
Overall, the story was well told, and the acting good. Unfortunately, they had to , not-so subtly, throw in several 'Left-Wing' condescending digs, that were unnecessary for the story and tainted the movie-watching experience. It was like having a nice meal, then developing tonsil-stones in your mouth - left a bad taste, and couldn't wait to spit them out. Similar to the movie, "CRASH" and the conclusion of "OUTLANDER" - where the audience was lectured about the evils of racism and rape - Hello, any descent person knows this already - we don't need the lecture shoveled down our throats. Thank you,

An unethical film that purports to be about ethics, I think

I can't actually tell what the filmmakers thought they were doing or what story they were telling, but viewers need to be warned this film is an insulting rip-off of Amanda Knox's real life misfortune. They make shameless use of the notoriety of her story and then add injury to insult at the end. Disgusting. The character Matt Damon walks through ('acts' would be inaccurate) celebrates Trump-style ignorance, lying and thuggery, but denies having voted for Trump. The filmmakers dodge the issue by having him say he was a felon, so couldn't vote--so much for artistic integrity. I'm sorry I spent $20 to watch this. Abigal Breslin is terrific, though, and I hope to see her in other films--ones worthy of her talent.

An amazing story.

One of Matt Damon's best roles. I was engaged from the first scene and enjoyed the unfolding of this poignant story of two damaged people finding peace and finding each other.

Slow as molasses in January

You will spend your time watching this movie waiting for something exciting to happen. It should have been much more engaging given the plot. But it drags you from one moment to the next on the heels of the stoicism of Matt Damon as he deadpans his way through the story line offering the occasional 3word koan of barely articulated down home wisdom. Way overhyped. It's a genuine 'meh'.

Depressing suspenseful

Love all the actors and their acting but be prepared you will have the same sad feeling at the end as it gives in the beginning. Whelp the lead actor was trying to be better in the beginning but I guess you don't always get what you want lol which is life.... not worth 20 bucks...

Acting and plot was good - can do without the liberal politics

The person who wrote this below was spot on. My sentiments exactly, could not have said it better myself so I copied and pasted it here. I am really tired of the liberal socialist BS in everything I see. I stopped watching pro sports and most movies for this reason. Matt did a great acting job as usual, but the liberal BS is getting just way to much, making it hard to enjoy watching anything anymore.

Good acting, poor writing, unbelievable story.

Disappointing because I like Matt Damon and he does a decent job in this movie. But the story is so unbelievable and leaves too many unconnected dots. Would have been better as a lifetime movie.

Matt Damon........Walking around a lot.

This is a depressing, know-the primary-character-is-going -nowhere kind of movie. Matt Damon's accent is like something from the Simpsons when the challenged cousin from the south comes to visit. Save your money. This movie is horrible. Some of the ugliest people assembled in one movie, ever.
