Great movie for the whole family
Verified purchase
Stuart Little is one of the best movies for the family to enjoy because the movie shows that anything is possible for families. In this movie, it shows that it is possible for mice to live with families of humans even if they have cats for pets. This movie is very funny and has a few lessons too. This movie is great for families to enjoy because can can laugh through all of the humor scenes, and they can learn some valuable lessons to from the movie too. In this movie, they can learn that is it is important for them get along with new family members even if they look different. I have some younger cousins in my family who enjoy watching this movie. Plus my sister enjoys watching this movie too. I wish this movie was longer though. it seemed short, but there were limitations to the type of animation they used back when this movie was made which was during 1990s.

not like the book
Verified purchase
This was a cute movie, but I was slightly disappointed that it didn't follow the book more closely. I used this novel for my son's literature lessons and thought the movie would be a treat. While it is family friendly, it barely resembles the novel. We were all slightly disappointed at the discrepancies, although entertained at the same time.

... entertaining movie if you're not expecting it to be like the book
Verified purchase
It's an entertaining movie if you're not expecting it to be like the book. There are almost no story-lines from the book that made it into the movie. My son was disappointed in that because we had just finished the book and he was hoping to see Margalo and see Stuart substitute teach in the classroom. Also, I found it strange that for a kids movie, the cats in the "gang" used foul language a few times. (d***, h***) My kids didn't even hear it but I was disappointed in the choice to include it in a children's movie. That being said, they were entertained and enjoyed seeing Stuart in "real life". :)

"Deluxe" edition is modified "Full Screen", not widescreen.
Verified purchase
At this time (March, 2021), the product description for the Deluxe Edition says Aspect Ratio : 1.85:1, which indicates widescreen. However, the DVD is actually a "Full Screen" 4:3 presentation for older tube-style TVs, not today's widescreen TVs. This means that the left and right halves of every frame are cut off to achieve 4:3.

Great movie to share with your child(children)
Verified purchase
Dislike the amount of time, and frequency, that it took to load. Was so slow, had to make sure that it wasn’t my internet connection having trouble.

Classic movie for 90s kids to share. Also, prior to this, I assumed Stuart was an awful little rat for stealing human parents away from a human child who probably could have used a set of parents. I had forgotten that Stuart really was the absolute best.

cute charming but had they read the book?

I thought Micheal J fox was the perfect voice for stuart for one thing his often comical yet distressed voice that he used in the back to the future trilogy worked perfectly.
Geena Davis made the perfect Mom and that guy even if he was a child molester which I far from condone played the role of the dad to a tee. He didn't do anything untowards to kids in the film so It doesn't come into play in my review anyways. I thought the scene with the boat race was perfect the best part. Snowbell had some great lines that if my cat's spoke english I think they'd hardily agree to like " I gotta go lick myself, scratch and stare at traffic that could take hours if I do it right" All together a charming comedy movie if you don't mind that other then the films name and the charictors names there is absolutely nothing related to the book in this film. Even the boat race is a far deviation from the book. If you don't mind that then it's perfectly harmless family fun with alot less bathroom humor than the normal these days. However I urge you when your kids are older read them or havem read the book. EB White was a brilliat writer and deserves to have the classic story at least be known as far from the holloywood script.

After reading the book my 9 year old daughter was so excited when i told her there was a movie. after looking on netflix and amazon prime for a free version we couldnt find one. she begged me to buy this movie. she loves it. The story of a cute little mouse trying to survive in the big bad world while living with his human people and trying to fit in until he finds his true love.

Our whole family loves watching this movie over and over

Amazing film based on one of E.B. White’s books

The movie was amazing to me as a kid, and now as an adult, I still love it!! But what surprises me, is that the movie was completely different from the EB Whites book!
