I don't know why in the world Amazon has this book list as "Bestseller in Christian Grief and Death." It is about the OPPOSITE! It is about JOY and LIFE! I was underlining on almost every page, turning down corners, etc. I am in my late 60's, but this young couple has taught me a new way to look at life. Although the book is written from a Christian world-view, it will be helpful to people of all faiths. Suffering is an inevitable part of Life. Although we all suffer in different ways, "everybody hurts" at one time or another. If you are going through anything painful or difficult, this book will illustrate how to live with JOY in spite of your circumstances. Bravo, Katherine and Jay!

From Chapter 3 - Joyful Rebellion: Redefining Celebration
"Jay and I no longer celebrate desired outcomes that may or may not happen in the way we envision. But we do celebrate, because if we wait, we just might wait until it's too late to celebrate at all."
Jay and Katherine write this lovely book together. They trade off every other chapter and write from their hearts the lessons they learned since Katherine's stroke. Their book disrupts the myth that joy can only be found in a pain-free life.
Healing from a chronic illness I have seen dark days...days of hopelessness...days of pain and dread...days of wanting to be who I was before I got sick and sometimes missing the beautiful things that were right in front of me because my body demanded so much attention. Not only did the sickness beat me up, but my own thoughts of trying to be my old self got the best of me many days. As I continue to heal and as symptoms subside I can look out now and see the world in front of me. It's quite beautiful and the truth is the glue that held me together was my faith....Jesus...the very thing that holds Jay and Katherine together. The chapters redefine limitations, beauty, community, calling, hope and so much more. This book is a great tool for any life change. May it bring comfort, encouragement and hope. Jay and Katherine...thank you for championing this message. Your strength and courage shine bright!

The humor and seriousness, tenderness and strength, honesty and courage are in plain view on every page. This book WILL touch your heart, and you WILL NOT be the same. Katherine and Jay's story written in their book Hope Heals was transformatively healing in my life. I have drawn daily encouragement from them and their family through the years. I pre-ordered Suffer Strong before and have been anxiously awaiting its arrival, which just so happens to come amid one of the hardest and saddest times of my life. I'm eager to read these pages as the pages of my life beg solidarity with others intimately acquainted with sorrow and suffering, and who seek and find and choose hope and joy amid pain.

Katherine & Jay have used their story of Katherine's stroke and never-death experience, and subsequent limitations, in powerful ways. It's been more than 10 years since Katherine's stroke, which was only the beginning of their journey in learning how to thrive in the midst of more than their fair share of suffering. They are skilled at using the lessons they've learned in a way that encourages and applies to all of us, as we all attempt to find peace and joy in the midst of life's ups and downs. What a joy to be encouraged to embrace all that life has to offer - even in the darkest moments - and to be reminded to stop and celebrate the joyous moments. No matter your faith background, Jay & Katherine's book is full of words of encouragement and wisdom for all.

I cannot say enough about Katherine and Jay Wolf. They define “comfort others with the comfort you have been given.” They exude joy and the beauty of letting Christ work through suffering. I have not read the book yet- to be honest- I just received it- but knowing them, I know it is going to be awesome.

The Wolfs have done it again. After they shared their story in Hope Heals, they wrote another fantastic resource for people who encounter suffering. That’s everybody! We all need hope. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer. His Word to us—the Bible—redefines how we see our difficulties. Learn from the lessons in Suffer Strong. What an encouragement! A challenge to look up to the Author and Perfecter of our faith—and find eternal hope, overflowing joy, and true healing and peace.
