Bram Stoker, quoting the ballad “Lenore,” said, “The dead travel fast.”
Those words have never rung more true...
Remember that car that passed you near midnight on Route 66, doing 105 with its lights off? You wondered where it was going so quickly on that dark, dusty stretch of road, motor roaring, the driver glancing out the window as he blew by.
Did his greedy eyes shine silver like a coyote’s? Did he make you feel like prey?
You can’t remember now.
You just saw the founder of the Suicide Motor Club. Be grateful his brake lights never flashed. Be grateful his car was already full.
They roam America, littering the highways with smashed cars and bled-out bodies, a gruesome reflection of the unsettled sixties. But to anyone unlucky enough to meet them in the lonely hours of the night, they’re just a blurry memory.
That is—to all but one...
Two years ago, they left a witness in the mangled wreck of her family car, her husband dead, her son taken. She remembers their awful faces, despite their tricks and glamours. And she’s coming for them—her thirst for vengeance even more powerful than their hunger for blood.
On the deserted highways of America, the hunters are about to become the hunted...

The Suicide Motor Club is a rollercoaster of a ride. A band of nomadic vampires travelling the back roads of 60's America, led by joyfully cruel and vicious Luther Nixon, leaving a wake of blood and death behind their prized muscle cars. Until they take a child and leave a witness
I finished this book around 2am and immediately wanted to start over in case I had read too fast and missed something. Cannot wait more.
Love love LOVE this author! Started with Those Across The River. This was my second read. Usually this type of story isn’t my favorite, but the pacing and story content and characters just blew me away. Best author I have found in a long time. Can’t wait to read more from him! I’m fangirling to any of my friends who will listen!
There's room for a sequel, but if that never happens, it's fine. The book is perfectly self-contained.

But the thing is that someone noticed. Not all the people are susceptible to being brain-washed by them so when a woman survives a car wreck, she remembers her son being snatched away by them. And despite her attempts to tell herself it was all just a bad dream and trying her career in a cloister to forget her awful past, the destiny chose different path for her. She isn't the only one to know about them. So when a secret club of vampire slayers asks her to come along and avenge her little son, she agrees.
I loved the story and its twists. It was terrifying and gruesome. The characters kept slowly ravelling their secrets so that I was constantly saying "aha! wow! what the.." and so on ;-)= I'm happy that the idea of the evil undead is still alive and hasn't disappeared from literature just yet. And even though a charming vampire character appears, the protagonist can see through him and doesn't get swept away.
