Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5The Summer House was a delightfully heart warming read! Filled with southern charm, Lauren K. Denton provides a wonderful story about life, disappointments, and the path to second chances. ☀️What would you do if after only a few weeks of living in a new state, your husband of over a year decides to leave. With no inkling, Lily wakes up to find a note from her husband, along with divorce papers. Devastated and desperate on what to do next, Lily finds herself becoming the new beautician at a local retirement community. She forms an unlikely friendship with Rose, the women who built the retirement community, and who also has quite the past with her husband. This friendship was needed for both Lily and Rose and provided the power of their growth throughout the novel. 👯♀️Denton did an amazing job with developing the characters within this story. They were easy to connect with, while each having their own quirks to them. I felt that the storyline flowed and had a great deal of substance and depth. It was reassuring to watch the main character grow into her own shell. While Denton does a great job of bringing this novel to a close, I so desperately wanted more! 💝“This life is a beautiful thing—it’s precious and fleeting, and we’d all be crazy not to reach out and grab it with both hands and hang on tight.”
