Summer Nights (Fool's Gold Book 11) Kindle Edition
|New from||Used from|
Small-town librarian Annabelle Weiss has always seen herself as more of a sweetheart than a siren, so she can't understand why Shane keeps pushing her away. Shane has formed the totally wrong impression of her but only he can help her with a special event for the next Fool's Gold festival. And maybe while he's at it, she can convince him to teach her a few things about kissing on hot summer nights, toosome lessons, a girl shouldn't learn from reading a book!

From the Author
Annabelle Weiss is my gift to all the wonderful librarians who have been so enthusiastic about my books. The Fool's Gold librarian is a firecracker - petite and pretty, a fashion plate in her cute summer dresses and knock-'em-dead heels. Poor Shane Stryker doesn't stand a chance! The horse whisperer is mesmerized by Annabelle from the first moment he spots her - demonstrating the Dance of the Happy Virgin on top of the bar at Jo's. Although he tries to protect his heart, Annabelle will find a way past his defenses.

With small town librarian Annabelle and horse whisperer Shane getting their turn in the spotlight, "Summer Nights" keeps with the long-standing formula of a great romance mixed in with the every day lives of people that we would all enjoy being friends with. Annabelle is looking to find someone who accepts her for exactly who she is without wanting her to change, unfortunately, Shane spots her at the one time in her life that she stepped out of her comfort zone and formed all kinds of wrong opinions of her! He's looking for someone who is stable and wants to settle down in to a peaceful existence with no drama and seeing Annabelle dancing on the bar has him thinking that she's the kind of woman who craves attention.
The whole story is essentially wrapped around one of Fool's Gold's famous festivals and Susan Mallery lets us see how all of the locals are doing in their lives without letting them take up too much time from Shane and Annabelle. This is another great story for the series and a must read and a great addition to your Susan Mallery bookshelf!
When Shane sees Annabelle dancing on the bar he's drawn to her, but decides she's not a safe bet, so he's determined to stay away and asks his mom, May, if she knows any nice girls. He comes to find out that the nice librarian his mom tells him about and the woman dancing on the bar are one and the same.
Summer Nights is a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed Annabelle and Shane and their journey to a happy ending, although Shane did have some competition with Khatar who falls in love with Annabelle at first sight. It all works out in the end though. Another great book in Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series.

The attraction of this book is in the characterisation of Shane and Annabelle who are both adults who behave in a mature way during the book. There are also lots of minor characters such as Annabelle's friends and Shane's brothers (and the horses, and the elephant, etc.) who add to the story. My only reservation is a rather cheesy declaration of love near the end.
One of the more enjoyable stories in this series.
