3.0 out of 5 stars A super collection?
By Jonathan on March 6, 2021
This is a large omnibus collection the Superman / Batman run from the 2000s. I remember, when I was a kid just getting into comic books, an early issue of this series was one of the first comic books I ever bought. The first issue I bought was the one whose cover image is borrowed for the side of the book jacket. I have to say, I think the spine of the book jacket looks really nice, and I love the way it looks on the shelf.
The jacket of the omnibus includes the cover as picture, but the underneath the jacket there is a wrap-around image of Superman and Batman with some of their famous enemies running down the middle. This also looks very good.
The book is bound in the manner than most large omnibus books are. I have included an image of what the binding looks like. The majority of DC omnibus collections I own have a binding that pulls away from the spine. I hope that is a feature that improves the longevity of the book, but time will tell.
Now, to what is inside the book: the first two arcs presented here are the same stories found in the Superman/Batman animated movies. These are two of the better stories in the book. After that, is another pretty good story about Superman and Batman going up against an else world's version of Marvel's Avengers. This arc includes one of the first comic books I ever read; although, at the time, I did not understand the story at all. That was because the issue was in the middle of the arc, and I never read the other issues until now (15 years later?). I liked this story quite a bit, but after that, the rest of the stories in the book are very forgettable.
Honestly, I only just read them, and I already forgot what happens. I think there was one issue about Tim Drake and Connor Kent fighting with a Mecha in Japan that was pretty weird, but I really don't remember much else. It was just pretty basic and uninteresting after that.
Ultimately, this book is a nice one for your shelf if you are a DC collector. If you like the Jeph Loeb run on Superman / Batman, you should probably have this one in your collection. Especially if you are like me and this series holds a lot of nostalgia for you. Otherwise, it is very skippable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for anyone looking to get into comics as well as diehard Batman and Superman fans alike
By Aaiden Parisho on March 12, 2021
This book is great, a few of the one shots and annuals throughout can be kind of boring, but all in all it is a great book with several amazing stories within. The book and authors within perfectly display what makes Batman and Superman so awesome, it explores just about every aspect of their relationship, and what they think of each other. Another great thing about this book is that it can really fit anywhere in continuity, someone who is brand new to comics can pick this up and enjoy it just as much as a long time fan. It really is awesome, and as a Batman fan it’s awesome to get some amazing Superman stories as well. I would say just about 95% of the stories within are about perfect, there is plenty of action and emotion within, with a surprising amount of humor scattered throughout. There is a large array of characters in this book as well, so don’t think it’s a book with only Batman and Superman. If you can get this book for anywhere under $100 I would say it is a must buy, if I were to be someone who frequently bought books over that price, it would say it is also worth the retail price of $125. Altogether an awesome book, with great stories, characters, and artwork alike. It was so good I decided to write my first ever review about it. I hope this helped anyone 😁.
