A brand-new Supernatural novel that reveals a previously unseen adventure for the Winchester brothers, from the hit TV series!
Sam and Dean travel to Indiana, to investigate a murder that could be the work of a werewolf. But they soon discover that werewolves aren't the only things going bump in the night. The town is also home to a pack of jakkals who worship the god Anubis: carrion-eating scavengers who hate werewolves. With the help of Garth, the Winchester brothers must stop the werewolf-jakkal turf war before it engulfs the town - and before the god Anubis is awakened...

The author is a competent writer. Just using Supernatural fans as a step stool to bigger things. I'd rather read Supernatural tie-ins written by authors who have a real passion for the show.
I seriously love Garth and was so happy to get to read about him and all he went through. We got to learn a little more about his back story.
Abd of course our boys, as always, were amazing. I love hearing small details of their pass!!!
Very great story.

This is a wholly original story for the two lead characters, which has never been presented before in any other format. Familiarity with the tv show will help, but you will doubtless have that if you are reading this.
It runs for three hundred and fifteen pages. It has thirty two chapters. It's set during the twelfth season of the the show, after the episode 'the one you've been waiting for.' Which does get referenced.
A murder in a small town in Indiana appears to be down to werewolves. Sam and Dean head there to investigate. But the local sheriff is particularly unhelpful. There's another group of monsters of a different kind in town. Who really don't get on with werewolves. And their old friend Garth is there too, working the case his way.
A turf war has to be stopped before an ancient force awakens, because then everyone will be in trouble...
This does all that franchise novels can and should - making a good stand alone story that doesn't alter continuity or have an effect on the status quo - but it does it even better than most. All the supporting characters, even ones who don't last long, have real depth to them. It really gets to the heart of the character of Garth. And really gives him purpose. There are moral dilemmas for Dean and Sam and Garth. And for other characters as well.
There's so much going on that there are long spells when the Winchesters are off the page, but it doesn't matter because the story still holds you perfectly. And it even throws in a good little tale of Winchesters times past as well.
It just falls ever so short of five stars because the final action sequence does feel a bit over familiar. But that's only a very minor complaint, because I think this one of the best this range has ever produced. So I recommend it highly.
