ruin an honest love story/coming of age story with Hollywood anti-God sentiment.

Not a superstar

Superstar isn’t a superstar. It has some mildly humorous places, but they are too few and far between. The story line is silly, but silly sells to some people. I’m just not one of them. I’m not a Will Farrell fan, so I won’t say anything about his acting. I haven’t watched SNL in quite a while, so I hadn’t seen Molly Shannon before. I found her acting to be cute – just cute. It probably works well for the short skits on SNL. The rest of the cast gave average performances. Language and sexual situations make this not family friendly. Also, I suspect that some Christians would be offended by what could be considered an irreverent depiction of Jesus.

An actual funny comedy!

This movie is so meta. It really captures the film era of the 90's and does a great job satirizing some time-old Hollywood clichés. It's so self aware of the casting and filmography. For example none of the actors can pull of high-school age looks, and they don't even try. They just go with it, know how cliché age casting can be in Hollywood. The story portrays all the popular high-school stereotypes and awkwardness is such a humorous manner. The film knows it's cheesy and it lives up to it and shines!

Lol. A family favorite. Daughters are in their 40’s and we watched it when they all came and we all laughed so hard . Had so much fun during this . One daughter is a nut and would always throw in a scene from a ridiculous show. Worth the $$ for the memories.

Goofy very funny movie about a Catholic school girl outcast wanting to be a superstar and get her first kiss. When a movie starts with a nun catching a student making out with a tree you know it's crazy. Plus you add Will Ferrell as popular jock dance god how can it not be hilarious. On her way to trying to become a superstar she has to fight mom and stuck-up girls at school. VERY FUNNY. Lots of twists and surprises.

Genius - Lots-a-laughs and plenty of heart.

Molly Shannon and cast are genius in Superstar. I would go so far as to say that the character acting in this film was some of the best I have ever seen. Yes, there are a few moments of distasteful humor, but all together this is a memorable comedy with lots-a-laughs and plenty of heart. I wish Ms Shannon made more movies like this over the years.

Just my view. Peace.

This to me is a classic especially for whoever went to Catholic School. Its hilarious a little raunchy but not too much - I love Molly Shannon in this!!! Definitely old school - let my 14 year old watch this and she was confused by a lot of the references that they made to other movies mostly from the 80s.
