A tale about a separated couple that comes back together! I love marriage in peril books, only if there is no cheating, and there wasnt, but this one made me angry. It was six long years they wasted apart and then she has the nerve to come back to ask for a divorce so she can marry another guy! I didn't think I was going to like it and I actually stopped reading this at one point. Weeks later I picked it up and finished it, and even liked it. I didn't love it because of one particular problem; the heroine. She was an idiot. She just kept doing stupid things which could be misconstrued and were downright dumb! I felt sorry for the hero at times. They both were responsible for the death of their marriage. Yes it was hastened by Fenella's lies but they should have communicated more, and he should have quit drinking. But there is a mystery in there and I want to know what happens to McKenna and her French toad! There is something there for sure.

The reason why I gave this book a 4 I even thought maybe a 3 because it seemed to drag on and on. The authors should have ended the book but it just kept going. While I like a good book and sometimes I don't want it to end, this book however with the ending dragged on. They should have ended it in several spots but then yet again it just kept going

I adore resurrected marriage stories and this one goes to the top of my list. Lady Aisla Montgomery has lived the last six years the toast of Paris while her husband, she assumes, continues to drink and wench at his castle in Scotland. She married for love the first time. Perhaps marrying for friendship would work better the second time. But first, she must return to Scotland and ask her husband for a divorce. Little does she know, Niall Maclaren has cleaned up his act, but he is bitter and determined to get a bit of his own back. He’ll agree to the divorce if she spends six weeks as his wife without succumbing to his charms. He probably should have thought that one through better. Ha! I loved this book and I adored Aisla and Niall. I especially loved Aisla’s French suitor, Julien. I expect loads of great stories to come from the Howard and Morgan writing team!

The book has to many chapters that the main couple just tease each other. To many chapters that say the same thing over and over. They were supposed to be a strong powerful Highlander and strong powerful women but they had to much insecurity and doubts to be believable. But that may have been all the extra chapters. I would like to read the next book but I am afraid that it will be the same way.

Very enjoyable story of Niall Stuart Maclaren, Laird of Tarbendale and Lady Aisla Montgomery, his estranged wife. Many mistakes and misunderstandings happened when Niall and Aisla were first married and it led to Aisla leaving and going to Paris to live. Niall has turned himself around and is finally prospering when Aisla returns asking for a divorce. Couldn't help feeling bad for these two and what they have been through, and once you realize how much they still love each other, you can't help but root for them to reconcile. Wonderful characters, unique storyline and well written.

Die Story und die Charaktere sind zunächst komplex und spannend , allerdings zieht ein Missverständnis nach dem anderen zwischen Aisla und Niall jede Freude aus der Geschichte. Man hat nach einer Weile den Eindruck in einer Endlosschleife der Missverständnisse zwischen den Protagonisten zu stecken. Unglaublich dumme und verstockte Reaktionen der Hauptpersonen machen das letzte Drittel des Buches dann zäh wie Kaugummi. Da hätte man besser 80 Seiten früher zu einem Happy End gefunden. Sehr störend fand ich übrigens auch, dass die Autorinnen sich entweder nicht gut über die Epoche in der dieses Buch spielt informiert haben, oder es ihnen schlicht egal war, ob sie historisch korrekt schreiben. Viele Ausdrücke und Vorkommnisse passten eher in die Neuzeit oder bestenfalls in die viktorianische Periode, aber sicher nicht die georgianische Zeit, wobei es an manchen Stellen sogar wirkte, als sei der Plott in das späte Mittelalter zurückgefallen. Hätte man besser machen können.
