I saved his life.
Now he’s invaded mine.
Two years ago, a split-second decision changed everything. I risked my life for a man I didn’t even know and nearly died for it.
I’ve tried to forget him. To forget that whole night.
But he hasn’t forgotten me.
He’s been watching.
Obsessing.
Craving.
And when he crashes back into my life like a wrecking ball, accompanied by two dark shadows — men he calls his brothers — the life I’ve been trying to rebuild for myself shatters into a thousand sharp-edged pieces.
He believes our souls are bound by blood, and he’s come back to claim what’s his.
Two years ago, I saved Marcus Constantine’s life.
Now I wish I hadn’t.
This is the first book in the Ruthless Games series, a dark reverse harem romance. It contains bully elements, sexual situations, violence, and dark subject matter.

Ayla is a young, underage student when she sees Marcus for the first time and though she knows he has two friends, doesn't see them as clearly when they walk by in a club. But she and Marcus lock gazes briefly before dancing bodies swallow him and his friends. After that brief encounter, Ayla is in the right place at the right time to step in front of 3 bullets meant for Marcus and saves his life. The last we get of Ayla is her bleeding out on the pavement with emergency workers come to try and keep her alive. Fast forward two years and change and we learn that due to her injuries, Ayla is a partial amputee, a portion her right arm had to be removed because of where one of the bullets hit and she's going about her life not knowing what happened with the man she saved that day.
In a series of events, Ayla learns that the entire time following the shooting when she stepped in front of the bullets, Marcus and his friends Ryland and Theo have been watching over her for her safety which she learns after they come from the shadows to save her from a mugger. Ayla insists they leave her alone, Marcus refuses and during one of Ayla's confrontations with Marcus, they have sex and begin a sort of relationship that Ayla isn't really ready for but spends more and more time with Marcus and stops complaining about him and his friends. As the story progresses, Ayla is made aware that the three are not only very well off but are engaged in a deadly game of competition to be the boss, head of factions in the city in which they live. The rules are simple, either kill or be killed and be the last one standing, or convince the other competition to join under your rule. Marcus is the leader and his friends will do anything for him per hinted prior debts. Ayla is in danger and at the end of this book, Marcus is shot so we're left wondering if he lived to the next book.
Ayla is a foster home girl who doesn't know her family except for a brother whose name she doesn't know but has a picture of him and her together from her foster care days after another kid gave it to her and told her the boy was her brother. Otherwise, Ayla is alone and doing her best to live her life.
I spent around 40% of the book disliking Ayla since she's prickly and mean for no reason I could tell at outset. I couldn't understand some of her actions or that of the men, especially when the attraction appears between Ayla to Theo and Ryland. Interested in seeing where the story goes though.
This book ya'll! This book! WAS EVERYTHING! Seriously, I've read it twice so far... (Don't judge me) Ryland, Marcus, Theo & Ayla will hold you captive from the very first page...

I’m a huge Callie Rose fan so I had high expectations for this book, and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Y’all, what a start to this series.
As per usual, my review will have some small spoilers
First, let me say that I LOVED our main female lead, Ayla. She’s so tough on the outside, and will do absolutely anything to keep anyone from viewing her as weak. But she’s soft on the inside. She hurts. She gets her feelings hurt. She feels alone. She feels worthless. You ache for her, for the life she’s had to live. But even though she might be hurting on the inside, she’ll be damned if she lets anyone know.
Our guys are great. We have the usual one guy who is serious and obsessed with her, the one who seems happy go lucky and smooth as hell, and the broody one who seems to not want anything to do with her. Marcus is five alarm H O T and boy will he have you sweating. His absolute obsession with Ayla is madness, yet beautiful. I want my own Marcus, Jesus he can heat up the pages. He would do anything for her, but one thing he won’t do, is let her go. And I’m totally here for a possessive alpha male. Theo is smooth and calm personified. Ryland is broody and mysterious. We’ve only seen things get real serious with Marcus so far, and I’m excited to see things heat up with Theo and Ryland in the next book.
A little backstory: 2 and a half years ago, Ayla made the selfless decision to jump in front of a bullet to protect a man she didn’t even know. Present time, we have that same man and his sidekicks popping back up in her life and making her wonder if they ever even truly left her life, even if she didn’t know they were there. We watch her deal with PTSD, flashbacks, and panic attacks related to the incident. We watch her go from wanting these men to butt the hell out of her life… to not knowing what she would do without them, because they’ve somehow ended up as permanent fixtures in her life. We don’t know much about the guys and what they do for a living. We obviously know they’re involved in some shady shite and Ayla doesn’t ask too many questions. I thought it would bother me that she didn’t try to learn more about them, but Callie Rose wrote the storyline so flawlessly that it makes sense WHY Ayla didn’t want to know more. She didn’t want them to stay in her life, she wanted to go back to her life of solitude, so she didn’t want to know more than she needed to. But once she decided she needed them, all hell broke loose and at that point she knew she needed answers, and she got them.
I NEVER expected where this storyline was going. The whole idea of “The Game” was actually brilliant. Like with all RH novels, you have to suspend reality a little, but I found myself able to believe this storyline pretty easily.
As usual, Callie Rose’s character development is on point. You feel like you know these characters so well (minus Theo and Ryland at this point, but we will get to them in the next book). You can understand the actions of these characters because Callie puts you in their heads so well, which to me is hard to do since this is only in Aylas perspective. But she did it. And she did it well.
Warning, this book ends on a killer of cliffhanger, but THANKFULLY, this series is completed, so we don’t have to wait for the next book to find out what happens.
Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK!!
*I did NOT receive an ARC for my review, nor do I know the author personally, I’m just a fan of her work after randomly coming across her Kings of Linwood academy series. If you haven’t read that one, what are you waiting for?! I read this book through Kindle Unlimited*
Oh, well, at least I pre-ordered, and I never do that dark.
Top reviews from other countries

Best action in a while 😜
Our sweet innocent FMC Ayla starts off noticing the guy with the unusual eyes
One blue and one brown
She’s drawn to him as soon as she sees him
What was suppose to be a smoke in the alley behind a bar turned into a night Ayla will never forget
She’s living her life by trying to not catch any bodies attention
She doesn’t want to be noticed and I think that has a lot about her past when she was 15
She lives by a simple routine, trying to survive for awhile
Without giving too much away
What happened in that alley several years ago comes back to haunt her daily life
Stalkers and what I think is a reminder of the purge in a way hehe it’s got a good twist, hot sexy men and some hot steamy times
I’m excited to see how book 2 goes
It’s definitely a must read from me 10/10 😁

Once we had an understanding of their reasons for following her and protecting her and what was happening with “The Game” it started to make sense and I am also liking the relationship she is building with each one.
I don’t mind RH books if I’m honest and like all 3 guys so far but if I’m being brutally honest right at this moment I only see her with Marcus.
Theo & Ryland are two good characters but not enough interaction for me with all 3 men to see the RH aspect (yet).
On to book 2.

It's dark and gritty but in a completely original way to what many authors are releasing at the moment. I honestly couldn't put this down until I was finished. The draw back is the wait for the next installment

If you're a fan of darker romances, with obsessed, controlling and manipulating heroes then you need to read this book!
I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
