But little does he know that his background as a ranger has something to do with why he was hired, and when he’s asked to partner with an FBI agent to do occasional surveillance, he accepts.

What promises to be a simple, majorly romantic attraction heading for True Love, suddenly hits a FBI undercover roadblock (which I loved). Talk about a job getting in the way of love!

Nick Foley is an army ranger visiting his friend Gray Landers, living in Crystal Rock. Years before he had met Gray’s sister, Brynn, and was sure he had met the woman of his dreams. But then he had gone off to fight in Iraq. Now, having returned from the army and badly injured by a grenade, he’s basically retired. Nick’s dad wants him to run his car dealership nearby, but that doesn’t suit the veteran at all. Meanwhile, while he’s with Gray he happens to walk around enjoying the lovely countryside’s natural beauty when he comes across Brynn. Zowie! She’s even more beautiful than before. But there’s a hitch. Nick’s wounds are now physically ever present and what woman would want him?
Despite his injuries, Brynn’s definitely attracted to him again, but there’s another hitch. Turns out she is working undercover for the FBI, who “dumped” her into her old home town. While she’s come back, everyone thinks her in-and-out relationships are because she’s flighty. But in reality, each new guy is really another agent, working on the same trafficking ring as she is.

Plot twists, family treasures, past murders, and further attractions run rampant in this highly appealing story. In the end, I appreciate how much this author always turns a simple romance into something much deeper and interesting. Highly recommend!

DISCLOSURE: Years ago I was in a box set with this author, but it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve started to read her other books...and become a fan.

A lover of soldier's love stories, A Captivated Kiss did not disappoint. Nick was wounded in Iraq bringing his career as he knew it to an end. His injuries plagued him. However, prior to his deployment, he met the beautiful Brynn, and they had one incredible kiss. But it would be a long time before the possibility of getting close to her again presented itself. As a veteran back in Crystal Rock, he ponders his life's choices, totally unaware that this would lead him to work with Brynn undercover for the FBI. This was such an unexpected twist. The story takes the pair down a rabbit hole they never saw coming. An incredibly well-written story weaved by a talented author. The love story captivated me. Plenty of twists and turns with great central plot readers won't see coming. A highly recommended read.
