My husband and I like Halestorm Entertainment movies. He is a convert and loves the LDS humor. This was really really really bad. We didn't even finish it. It was awkward and completely unbelievable and the set was really cheap. I think they filmed the entire thing practically in someone's house. Even the restaurant scene was in a house. Don't watch it. You will regret it.
This is just a great straight out comedy. By that I mean it did not rely upon raunchy or crude behavior to be comical, just a good storyline, acting, and directing. I have watched a few L D S movies lately and have to say that by far this was one of the best.
The storytine was cute and it definently had an indie feel if you like that kind of thing. I love most of Kirby Heyborne's movies and this one does not disappoint. It is a fun family film with a pretty good message to it. However, don't be fooled, this is a feel good movie, not a gospel teaching moment. I read some reviews that displayed disappointment because they were expecting more morally from the movies, "perhaps because of previous movies such as "the best two years", this is not it. But if you are looking for a movie that is fun and has little chance of offending, this is a great pick.
This movie is just too funny. I live in Alaska where the winter's are long and I can't work anymore due to health problems. When I get really depressed I pop in a Mormon flick like this and start laughing. I especially love their "accents". And what young men will do to get the girl of their heart! Funny!
