From the very first sentence, Jackie Weger's Tangled Memories captures your attention and sets the stage for this contemporary romance. A woman's quest for vindication after serving a year's sentence for a crime she did not commit is at odds with an insurance investigator's mission to uncover information needed to complete an assignment. The initial verbal sparring between wary, yet fiesty Stormy Maxwell and over-confident, smooth-talking Tyler Mangus sets the stage for a rollercoaster journey filled with twists and turns. Ms. Weger paints a realistic portrait of a woman hoping to prove her innocence, rebuild her life, provide for her daughter, and find her way through an unforgiving world. Not only does she deal with the nosey (but so attractive) investigator, Stormy must negotiate life in the family's St. Augustine beach house with her suspicious sister and easily angered brother-in-law. Constantly looking over her shoulder, fearful she'll inadvertently stumble and violate her parole, Stormy is resourceful, creative, and willing to work to establish her own business...while questioning Tyler's motives as he slides further into her life. As always, Ms. Weger's characters are multi-dimensional and realistic. No spoilers, but Tangled Memories sweeps readers into Stormy's and Tyler's unpredictable lives and leaves you hoping to stay just a while longer after the HEA. (Ms. Weger's depiction of St. Augustine, Anatasia Island, and local attractions was authentic and could only be written by someone who knows the area well. I especially enjoyed the mention of Washington Oaks Park, a favorite area to visit!)

This book is definitely a keeper - one to be read again. Ms. Weger is one of my very favorite authors with her amazing wit and down-to-earth characters. The plot to this book is unusual.
Stormy has just been released from prison after 11 months. She was totally innocent but was convicted of a bank robbery anyway. She is reunited with her young daughter and sets out to rebuild her life. Then along comes Tyler, a debt recovery agent, whose job is to recover the money. Here is where the fun begins. Tyler is a very colorful character and full of snark. I snickered and laughed out loud throughout the rest of the book. Tyler's interactions with Stormy and her daughter are hilarious.
Everything in the book feels real with no wordy "fluff". It's such a delight.
Ms. Weger, I'm eagerly awaiting your next book!

I always have been a fan of Jackie Weger and again she creates an engrossing story of memorable characters with a meaningful ending. I appreciate her research, colorful descriptions, and worthy language. I just don't get the title, but I loved it and could barely put it down.

I felt bad for Stormy, so many things went wrong for her and she was trying so hard to make them right. I kept hoping things would work out for her. I enjoyed the plot and the writing style in this book, it kept me interested right up to the end.
