About the author

Saul Herzog is the pen name of one of the publishing industry's most successful and sought after thriller authors. His plots focus on timely and realistic scenarios, and mix espionage, military tactics, and high-octane action. His characters are deep and compelling, the kind of people who stay with you long after you finish the last page.
The Lance Spector series is a private passion project, but it is also more than that. It is the culmination of years of research, working in the trenches of the thriller genre, both in publishing and in film.

I have visited Latvia twice to see my relatives and the towns were my parents and grandparents were born. Mr. Herzog described Latvia and Riga perfectly. Maybe this book will be translated into Latvian and my relatives can read it there. However, I think they will be traumatized reading about another takeover by Russia. The last one wasn't that long ago.
Great writing, great plotlines, great characters, suspense, details...my kind of spy thriller.
Mr. Herzog, I hate to bring it up but you need to hire a new editor quickly. There were so many typos, missing words, and grammatical errors in this book. You are such a good author and deserve a better staff. Paldies!
Onto the 4th book to see where Lance Spector saves the day this time!
All that to say that I be familiar with realistic military scenarios. At least those that occurred in my time. I have had a military or spy thriller on my nightstand constantly for many years now.
I was not overly impressed with the first book in this series. But it had enough intriguing points and plot that I gave the second one a try. That was a good decision as it improved on character development - both in quality and quantity. Book 1 character development tended to be drawn out and didn't quite hit the mark. Book 2 was better.
This book, book 3, is so much better on character development. But it still tends to be a bit repetitive. It also includes so much factual background information that is woven into the plot.
I am looking forward to Book 4, The Sleeper.
I rate books I read, but rarely leave a written review. This book deserved my efforts to do so.
Thank you, Mr. Herzog

Absoutely no typos, no passages leading nowhere. Hugely enthralling. The whole series is superb.
