I thought I knew a lot about Tarzan. Boy was I wrong. Not only didn't I know all of the actors that portrayed the hero of the jungle, I knew almost nothing about the studios and the intrigue behind the making of the films and the TV series. Our host is one of the most muscular Tarzans. He gives a great explanation of the films and adds some insightful and interesting personal info. Wait 'till you hear who he married. I loved learning all this new information and watching again some of my favorite scenes from the movies and TV. Even if you're not a big fan of the Tarzan story, you'll get some wonderful insight into how Hollywood made Tarzan into the legend we all know.
You might also want to try the same type of program, hosted by Sugarfoot, about westerns on TV

This was very well made & entertaining! I learned a lot of stuff I never knew before, and I am a fan of the character since I was in 6th grade.

Produced in 1995 with what appears to have been a minimal budget, this modest documentary provides a good look at Tarzan's cinematic history and provides a wealth of production insights.

Narrated by the 11th actor to portray the Tarzan role in a sanctioned film, Gordon Scott, on location at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia, Ca., where "pick up" scenes were filmed for many Tarzan and other "jungle" themed film and television productions in and around the facility's Baldwin Lake.

Scott is an affable host and it's apparent that this presentation was a heartfelt endeavor for all involved.

Suffers slightly from poor print quality.

I just watched this Doc. Copyright 1995 when Scott was 68. His scenes out at the LA Arboretum near Santa Anita Race Track. Festooned in Banana Republic Garb, hiking boots with white sox and a BR hat he is terrific. He presents all of the Tarzan's including serials and TV with a few surprises for laughs. Wonderful trivia. If you are not on Amazon Prime you can rent the film for 30 days for $1.99 or download a copy to keep for $7.99. All good options. Tarzan Fans give the yell. This is a winner.
