Blog postFirst, I’d like to sincerely thank the over seven hundred readers who preordered China Invades Taiwan. I did my best to repay that faith by publishing the Kindle version over a month in advance of the promised Christmas Eve date. Much of the credit goes to my intrepid editor, who worked long hours to make this early delivery possible.
The paperback and hardcover editions are now available as well, with the audiobook to follow early in the New Year.

Blog postIn my first book, The Second Korean War, an anti-aircraft missile is fired from an American Virginia class submarine. Is that really possible?
Here’s information on this topic posted on thedrive.com in 2017:
“Tests during the mid 2000s had the AIM-9X fired from a vertical launcher as a proof of concept demonstration. A few years later, an AIM-9X was launched from an actual submarine as part of a series of integration tests. Since then the program seems to have disappeared from12 months ago Read more -

Blog postSo, why are all three books grouped together in a series? In short, because readers asked for a series page.
I resisted when there were only two books, because I didn’t want readers to think they were being pushed to buy more than one book. After all, I’m sure there are readers fascinated by Korea who have no interest in Iran, and vice versa.
Some readers contacted me directly through this blog to suggest a series. Others made comments in reviews like this one for The Saudi-Ir2 years ago Read more -

I don’t know who Ted Halstead is, but I know one thing about him for sure. While writing The Second Korean War, he did his homework. I spent four years in the demilitarized zone in the 1980s. I’ve walked in a couple of tunnels big enough to roll an army through, a platoon at a time. Ted got it right. The only things he failed to mention are a couple of things that I’m pretty sure are classified top secret. It wouldn’t be cool to talk about3 years ago Read more -

Russia has learned that the theft of two Pakistani tactical nuclear missiles will be used to spark a nuclear war between India and Pakistan.
And that’s a problem. Because Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has left it with just two friends among the world’s leading countries. China and India.
Years ago, Russia secretly promised India support if China or Pakistan attacked it with nuclear weapons.
Much more recently, Russia made another secret promise, this time to China. That if nuclear war ever broke out between India and Pakistan, Russia would support China’s ally. Pakistan.
Russia was forced to make that promise because China is now the only reliable major market for Russia’s oil and gas. Without that market, Russia’s economy would collapse.
Pakistan’s ISI and India’s R&AW are both capable intelligence agencies. Both have also learned about the plot, though neither believes it can succeed.
And each have their own agendas.
Can the Russian agents prevent nuclear war on the subcontinent? Or will the conflict grow to include Russia and China, and then finally start World War III?

After China launches its attack on Taiwan, America will respond. But how far will the US go to keep Taiwan out of Beijing’s control?
America will have to use its bases in Japan. Will Japan be ready for involvement in combat for the first time since WWII?
Russia wants to make money selling equipment, weapons and fuel to the Chinese war machine. But if China wins in Taiwan, will it stop there? Or will it begin to eye the over 4,000 kilometer long border it shares with Russia?
China’s invasion of Taiwan might also fail because of the Americans. Will China then quietly accept defeat? Or will it use its nuclear weapons to punish the US for intervening?
If nuclear war does break out between the US and China, will Russia be able to stay on the sidelines?
This time, even Russia’s most capable agents might not be able to save their country from disaster.

China’s President faces many problems. Some, like conflict at the Indian border and in the South China Sea he created for himself. Others, like pending disasters at the Three Gorges Dam and China’s oldest nuclear plant, just happened. But the biggest threat to Communist rule is revolutionaries with Internet access through American satellites. Access that lets them distribute uncensored news, organize free of government surveillance, and launch cyberattacks. Four deniable Russian agents will travel to America to stop that threat, in return for a Chinese promise to purchase Russian oil and gas. The Chinese military will also be called on to help solve all these problems. But if the military succeeds, will they stop there? Or will the Second Chinese Revolution end with the generals in charge? GenZConservative: "The Second Chinese Revolution is a terrific, fun novel. It’s exciting, well-written, well-researched, and somewhat inspiring."

American troops left Afghanistan. But, just as in Iraq, they were soon forced to return.
Three Russian agents are trying to stop nuclear weapons stolen from Pakistan by the Taliban. The Taliban wants to use the stolen weapons to force America out of Afghanistan for good. Will nuclear strikes in multiple locations across Afghanistan let them succeed? Or can Russian agents and American special forces stop the Taliban in time?
“The author has gone to great lengths, more than most, to justify the actions of each of the involved nations, especially Russia.
At least for me, that gives the book much more realism and makes for a far more interesting story. His character development is great too. One becomes invested in his characters. Lastly, as an USAF veteran, his use of the military and descriptions of the personalities involved is outstanding.”- Amazon Review

Russian agents are searching Ukraine for a missing nuclear warhead. America suspects the warhead wasn’t really stolen, and its detonation a pretext to let Russia seize Ukraine. Will the agents find the warhead before it is used, and starts WWIII? Publishers Weekly- “Halstead’s impressive fourth Russian Agents thriller avoids the shopworn conventions of the genre…. The Saudi-Iranian War: Can Russian agents, Saudi tanks and American technology stop Iran’s Supreme Leader in time? Iran's new ruler will use three nuclear weapons, VX and two armored forces driving on Riyadh to overthrow the Saudi monarchy. Can he be stopped before thousands die, and a wider Middle East war begins?
“Fans of military fiction will love the detailed descriptions of tanks, drones and warheads. But fans of political thrillers will enjoy the pacing and the story. It reads like a Tom Clancy novel, in that there are numerous characters and lots of moving parts. However, unlike Clancy, there are no side-plots that take a tangent to nowhere. Every person and event described in the book lead directly to the main plot, making this a pretty quick, concise read. I highly recommend this book, especially if you’re curious about military fiction.”- Amazon Review.
