-Block not lining up with the ribbon. This could cause pages to literally fall out of the book over time as the block is not properly attached to the ribbon.
-Ribbon not properly attached to spine. This leaves the block and ribbon to be supported by the paper on the back of the cover. This could cause the paper on the inside of the cover to eventually rip under the weight of the block. It also makes the spine itself feel very flimsy, not a very nice feel when handling the book. Sometimes it happens only on one side, sometimes both.
If you purchase this, please be sure to inspect the spine and binding well. This isn’t something that can be fixed at home, and getting stuck with a defective book is no fun. I would suggest that anyone experiencing the issues makes it known via review or to support and return their copy for a refund. Hopefully if enough noise is made the QC issues will be addressed by IDW.
I will probably try buying this again at a later time to see if the QC issues have been resolved, but as a collector, this is un-purchasable in its current state.

Unfortunately the book was damaged on arrival, thought we were getting a nice new hardcover but there is quite a bit of wear on the bottom corner of the spine. Disappointing as this series has such nice covers and it takes away from the artwork a bit. Highly recommend the series though!

Even still, this was as good of a response to Issue #44 of the main series that we could expect, and Mutanimals was an interesting arc. There's nothing here at the level of History of the Foot Clan, and I doubt anything in this book will be held up as classic to the TMNT franchise, but it was a good read.Looking forward to Volume 7.
