More than what you expect.

I clicked on the movie for some mindless entertainment. It met that level and more. If you're looking for a movie that is in and of itself "deep and profound", this isn't it. The story line, like most Japanese story lines, is straight forward and formulaic. That is be design. It is the framework that the meat of the movie is based on. Just enough character development to tell you who to root for. Excellent fight scenes. Invisible wire-work. And just enough depth and profound thoughts to get you thinking at the right times. There is really no reason for anyone to pass this by. As I said, it's more than what you expect just looking at the cover. And never pretends to be more than what it is. Exactly what you want from entertainment.

Good character designs. Bleh story.

I'm pleased with the character designs as I felt the costumes and styles looked a lot like the video game characters. The ladies were sultry and seductive, more so than I felt the video game personalities presented. The imagery of the men's and women's bodies were probably right on par with the video games (seductive acting aside). The right scenes were generally neat but all of Jin's fights were formulaic in that he would get beat beyond any normal man's threshold and be on the verge of losing, showing everyone's disappointed reactions, and then BOOM ... he wins. I'd watch more installments but I wouldn't take it too serious.

a fight for freedom tournament style martial arts action movie
Verified purchase
on a positive note: the fighting scenes in this movie were really good. they had trained martial artists who sold convincing, interesting, inspiring combat scenes. the acting, scenery, and overall story were okay. there was some actual plot involved with the movie so it wasn't just people fighting in a ring the whole time. the movie could have had a lighter rating honestly tho. aside from the blood there wasn't anything really R rated. i don't even remember any profanity in the language. there was some cheese and i think the wardrobe was a little tacky. but that might go along with the original game Tekken, of which i know very little about. all in all, i expected very little from this film but was pleasantly surprised. enjoy!

"Tek-eh, Who Cares"
Verified purchase
Boring watch, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend.

I tried and fell asleep on this 3 times. There is plenty of things happening, but who cares, really?

The movie goes far out of the way to disconnect the audience from the characters, world and action.

Maybe I'll update this if I can ever get through it, but I can't see it being better than what I think it is right now.

Unless you're just a big Tekken fan, go watch "Dead or Alive" instead.

Holy Crap... I gave this movie a shot and it missed.

Don't bother with this movie...pass. The storyline seems familiar and the fight scenes are dated. Made for teenagers, I guess.

It takes a Real Fanatic

A lot of things right and a lot of things wrong. Worst Kazuya ever, no devil powers from him or Jin and the characters do not fit their backgrounds at all. It takes a REAL fan to get this right otherwise it might as well be another Super Mario Bros. movie or Godzilla in New York.
