I put aside the fact that we are used to big Hollywood movies with big budgets for special effects and acting coaches. I then asked myself if the core of this movie, the the overall story, was it any good? Was it entertaining? Yes, it was very good, it held my attention, I was invested in the characters and the outcome of the story. It's NOT a big budget film, don't let the lack special effects keep you from enjoying the story.
If there was a way to give it 4.5 stars I would have only because there were two scenes that seemed a bit clunky, but those were just tiny flaws when keeping everything else in context. Watch the film, you will enjoy it.
It's a good movie for the whole family to watch together.

Better than any comedy I've ever seen.

I was browsing for a Templar movie and found this. After a few minutes I switched it off to read reviews. One person wrote that they hadn't had such a good laugh. I was in the mood for a good time so went back. I am so glad I did because I haven't laughed like that in years. There was a sword fight that had me doubled over, literally. Heaven only knows what my neighbors think I'm up to. This is Indiana Jones meets Gremlins, not for little monsters but for the way Phoebe Cates' character lapsed into stories of her tragic life. I never knew I was even capable of laughing when someone spoke of a family suicide. Nothing about suicide is funny but by the time this line was delivered I was already laughing so hard I didn't think anything could be funnier, but that did it. I was actually rolling, holding my stomach. I have never seen a comedy in my life that I found funnier than this movie.

Yes it’s a low budget “bad” movie... but it was so horribly hilarious.... I laughed until I cried at parts of this film... I’ve already recommended it to my friends! Don’t expect great acting or a thrilling story line but if you truly enjoy films that can make you laugh absolutely watch this!!!! Ever watch a movie and wish you could go back in time just to kick your own ass for thinking of watching that pos movie>? Well if not this is that movie. Horrible acting, fight scenes, plots, sets etc.

Don't do it. In fact go watch paint dry, grass grow or rotate the air in your car tires instead of watching this movie.

At the end of Templar Nation, it promises "to be continued." I smirked. This movie is so bad, it's good. The basic premise was promising: the Templars never having truly disappeared but went into hiding; but the acting.. The camera direction.. The editing.. This movie reminds me of the quality of 90's TV movies. I do have to say the Templar history/mythology was very well done and even threw in some Masonic conspiracy for giggles.

B Movies are always a gamble, and budgets always hinder vision. I'd love to see what they could have done with a better budget. Well written and directed. A few slow spots but overall a great B movie. I hope they can make the sequel they plan, and someone gives them better funding. There was no reason this couldn't have be a big screen show with the storyline and promising director.

Mr. James has distinctly improved both in storytelling and production values, though obviously constrained by budget concerns. Like its predecessor, "the Masonic Map" the story was interesting and numerous viewings reveal details that go unnoticed the first time through. I originally purchased a digital download of TN for viewing while awaiting delivery of the first in the "trilogy" : "the Masonic Map". Like the latter, TN ventures into unfamiliar territory in the history of the original Order, but one that has been hinted at in the researches on the Newport Tower, the Westford Knight, the "hooked cross" and other, pop researchers. Perhaps a grain of truth may be found? Regardless, the movie is a fun ride that improves with each viewing. Give it a chance, it might just surprise you.
