Wow. I am totally in awe of this phenomenal story I just read. I read the first book when it was released 20 years ago, and decided to re read it before starting this one (even though you don't really need to read the first one. There is enough information in the story that will catch you up.) Kayla and Jasmine have been friends since kindergarten, but an incident 20 years ago stalled their friendship. Kayla's husband, Dr. Jefferson Blake, get's shot while visiting in New York ( where Jasmine and her now husband Pastor Hosea Bush live) and Jasmine is determined to uncover every secret as to what happened to her friend's husband. We also see appearances from Mae Francis (who seems to know everyone and is always getting Jasmine out of sticky situations) as well as the Blake's daughter, Nicole ( who is now in her 30's). It was a phenomenal story line, and I loved the way it ended.

Ok first of all let me just say I always wanted an update on Kyla and Jefferson and how their lives were after the reunion. But Victoria gave me more. The way Jasmine came to be with Kyla after the shooting was wonderful. The interaction between these two after all they had been through was so realistic. Jasmine let her love for her friend Kyla guide her actions. She was strong in the face of Kyla's rejections. Jasmine was determined to find out the truth of the mystery woman in Jefferson's life and she did. I only wished we had a clearer picture of what actually happened between Jefferson and 'Lola'. Nicole and Jefferson's daughter, was so caring and strong. Hosea was the kind of man most women would love to have. Glad there was some resolution between Kyla and Jasmine. I loved this book. Thank you Victoria Christopher Murray.

I held my breath hoping and praying Jefferson didn't betray Kyla again! I also hoped Jasmine would be able to repair their broken bond. Hosea what a wonderful human and man of God! Mae Frances funny and resourceful as ever! This was a wonderful story of faith in God, forgiveness and the power of healing! I really enjoyed it! It took awhile to revisit these characters but it was well worth the wait! It's amazing to me when someone can honestly look beyond ones faults, to truly forgive, that's a true testament to God, how many really could forgive and move forward. Just a great novel!
