Eight months have passed since King Tyden’s coronation brought an end to the Pair War. Hadrack, now the Lord of Corwick, has spent those months searching unsuccessfully for the last two living members of the nine. But then a mysterious letter arrives in Corwick, with the author claiming to be one of the very men Hadrack seeks. Is it a trap, as Hadrack’s friends, Jebido and Baine insist, or does the writer of that letter truly seek penance for his many crimes? Wary of deceit, yet unable to resist the chance that the man might be telling the truth, Hadrack and his Wolf Pack travel to the tiny village of Thidswitch to investigate. But not everything is as it seems, and Hadrack is quickly swept up in a diabolical plot—one spun with infinite patience and cunning by a familiar foe.
Caught between a vengeful enemy vying for the throne in the north and an army of savage Piths attacking from the south, Hadrack is left with an agonizing choice. Stay to defend his lands against an old friend, or march north to stop a hated enemy from getting what he covets the most. With Ganderland on the brink of defeat and plagued by betrayal at its highest levels, Hadrack learns a startling secret that could be the difference between salvation or annihilation—should he dare to reveal it.
Because sometimes, salvation comes at a cost.

Tired and disenchanted, Edward has no choice but to allow Jasmiine Vaxin to return to the war-torn Tralon continent to try to lead an uprising against the Empire specifically designed to buy him some much needed time. With the mighty Doorgen Sandon by his side, Edward sails for the far off continent of Ventrolous in search of an all too familiar artifact buried in a mythical moving lake called The Lake of Sorrows... a lake that is also jealously guarded by a magical creature known only as The Chrimlian.

Eleven-year-old Peter Pickler is dreading his first day at Ryerson Public School. His family has just moved across the city to allow his dad to be closer to his new job. Unfortunately for Peter, this means that he must leave his old friends behind and try to make new ones at Ryerson. This task does not prove easy, however, as Peter unwittingly becomes the target of fellow classmate, Roberta Grant, who is not only the prettiest and smartest girl in school, but also the most influential. With one word from Roberta, Peter finds himself placed firmly on the disfavored list. Only Albert ‘Tubilard’ Robillard, another student on the outs with Roberta, has the nerve to make friends with him.
Peter doesn’t think that his first day at Ryerson can get any worse, that is until he gets into a fight trying to rescue a stray cat from the school bully. That night, while Peter is trying to explain to his mother why he was fighting, an old lady arrives at the Pickler door asking that they adopt her precious cat, Mortimer, the very cat that Peter had gotten into the fight over. Peter’s mother eventually agrees to the odd request, and the next morning, Peter awakens to an incredible discovery. Mortimer can talk!
When Albert Robillard learns that his family can’t afford to pay for a much needed eye operation, Peter decides to help by signing up for the annual ‘Pet Idol’ contest. Peter figures that with Mortimer as his ace in the hole, winning the contest and getting Albert the money for his operation should be a breeze. What he hadn’t counted on was Mortimer’s reluctance to enter, nor that Roberta Grant would also be entering with her champion Siamese cat, Captain Nefarious Theodore the Third, who has been described by many as the smartest cat on the planet.
