WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
"With stories that feel ripped from the pages of EC Comics or from the celluloid veins of Creepshow, That Darkened Doorstep takes you on a journey to the depths of relationships gone sour, unearthly shadows, technological betrayal, and beyond. The icy hells crafted in this anthology will chill you to the bone." —Robert P. Ottone, author of Her Infernal Name & Other Nightmares and The Rise trilogy.
"That Darkened Doorstep is a powerful collection of chilling stories. The uneasy wonder and visceral terror in these tales will haunt me for some time. What a range of uncanny, alluring, unsettling dark fiction." —Richard Thomas, author of Spontaneous Human Combustion, and Bram Stoker Award®nominee
“With haunted houses, curses and spells, and a cohort of long-lost souls, That Darkened Doorstep features twenty uncanny tales of the unwary and the unexpected, editor Catherine Jordan bringing together emerging and established writers in a delightful cornucopia of creepiness.”—Lee Murray, USA Today Bestselling author and four-time Bram Stoker Award® winner.
“THAT DARKENED DOORSTEP offers up stories with real bite. Dark indeed … and also wildly entertaining and with a variety of compelling literary voices. Twisted fun and highly recommended!” —Jonathan Maberry, NY Times bestselling author of V-WARS and RELENTLESS
“Thrilling and frightful and filled with dark wonders, THAT DARKENED DOORSTEP is the type of horror anthology that leaves readers wishing for more.” —Eric J. Guignard, award-winning author and editor, including That Which Grows Wild and Doorways to the Deadeye

According to Stoker Award-winning author, Tim Waggoner, Douglas Ford "wields language like a sinister surgeon with a night-black scalpel." Ford’s collection of weird fiction, Ape in the Ring and Other Tales of the Macabre and Uncanny, was published by Madness Heart Press in 2020, earning praise from Owl Goingback, who called it “a must have collection for every horror library.” Ford followed this collection with The Beasts of Vissaria County, a novel released by D&T Publishing in 2021. His novella, The Reattachment, appeared in 2019 courtesy of Madness Heart Press, and that same press released Little Lugosi (A Love Story) in 2022.
I live in the UK near the Bronte moors where I walk my rescue dog, Roxy. I write dark fiction, and ghost stories. I was obsessed with historic haunted houses growing up and old movies especially film noirs of the 1940's. I blend the two genres in my fiction. I teach creative writing, edit and mentor writers. Away from my writing I swim, craft, sing, eat chocolate and laugh a lot with friends.
