I love this reimagined vigilante series with Queen Latifah as a strong, wise, cunning, and capable equalizer.
Unlike the 2014 and 2018 film versions which featured Denzel Washington as a former CIA officer who looks out for his friends, coworkers, and neighbors; Queen Latifah's character (Robyn McCall) is a divorced woman with a teenage daughter. I think having a daughter and needing to split her attention between justice and her family makes the character more relatable in a way that Denezel's character was not.
While Denzel's character attacks problems as a loner with lots of controlled but deadly violence, Queen Latifah has a support team. Although she's capable of duking it out, she can also coordinate her team to take down the bad guys with surgical precision.
I look forward to seeing how this series develops.
