The Heart of War: The Warsworn, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
King Tryton has rebuilt a nation, forged peace from war, and returned his people to the honor they had lost. Now guarding mages, guildmasters, and kings, the rock trolls inspire respect rather than fear. In spite of his feats, it is his family that brings him pride. He has trained his children in every facet of combat, preparing them for a world of conflict.
It will not be enough.
In the distant past another rock troll reigned supreme - until he disappeared. His will was bound to another, his flesh empowered with forgotten magic, and his body covered with impenetrable armor. Now he leads an army from another realm and serves the Lord of Chaos himself. Bound for eons, his rage has only grown in exile. When he gains his freedom the invasion begins.
And the world ends.

I thought that because I read the original Chronicles of Lumineia that I would know how this story would play out, but that was not true. There are so many different perspectives and story details that play out that it was wonderful and fascinating to read these new points of view.
This novel has amazing battle scenes that you feel as though you are witnessing; it has great bonds of friendship and family that are stretched to the limit; it has love stories that melt and break your heart; it has scenes that will make you laugh and sigh; and it has heart wrenching scenes that will make you cry.
Tryton's story could be a great "How To" book. How to be a great fighter; How to be an effective and motivating leader; How to be the perfect friend; How to love your partner to the fullest; and of course as we are introduced to his children, How to be a loving and teaching father. Tryton is not perfect and that is what I feel is so perfect about him, we can see his flaws and mistakes and how he grows from them instead of being defeated by them. I think we can relate to Tryton in his humanness (even though he is a rock troll).
Each story in this novel revolves around the people in Tryton's life. And each person is different and has their own struggles and challenges. It is fascinating to explore them all and understand that each person makes a difference, their contributions and sacrifices matter.
This book is fascinating as it actually takes place during the book ,"Seven days" of The second Draeken War series, and I highly recommend that you read that first as this book has some spoilers, namely the conclusion of that series.
This book gives Trytons side of those events up to and including his Battle with one of the 4 horsemen, War. As per Ben Hale, this is not an easy fight and there are casualties. Ben isn't afraid to give his characters pain, suffering and loss, and I will forever respect him for this. His creations are powerful, sometimes too much so, but they don't get away scott free, and usually the higher the reward, the greater the cost to achieve it.
Anyway, a very satisfying ending and a teaser for a new series, perhaps?
Anyway, a really good book.

Incredibly interesting read. Worth my time for sure. I would give it a 4.5-5 star for the first 2 books and a 4 star for the 3rd book.
