Very enjoyable British show
I had never heard of this show then stumbled upon it. So glad I did. It combines medical mysteries and a period piece-1960s Wales. I read other people talking about the subtitles. I found the British accents to be quite understandable for this American. Perhaps because I watch a lot of British shows. There was some casual talk in Welsh but it was chit chat and not needed to follow the plot.

Pleasantly Entertaining
A simple, well executed story. The characters are wonderful and although the plot is a bit predictable, it’s just so sweet. If you like The Durrells of Corfu, you will probably like this as well. Both programs have a similar vibe to them.

Enjoyable combo of period piece, cultures
Enjoy this one although plots are usually the least of it. Characters, interesting mix of Welsh, Indian and British cultures together in a period piece. And, how uncanny to have shot an arc of episodes about a smallpox outbreak, with all attendant issues of vaccination, tragedy and faith. Small village life meets foreign doctor and his wife may not be new, but enjoy this flavor of it as a cozy.

Looked forward with the raving reviews but very disappointed in the story plot
After the first 3 episodes, I literally already guessed the outlines and the plot was poorly written with not much of a twist or excitement as it developed. It was flat for me when there are so many outstanding ones out there. Didn't bother to finish it beyond beginning of the 2nd season.

It's a Feel Good Series
We have watched the first 4 episodes of season one. I think it is a good series so far. It so much better than several other series we have watched. I am not one who likes violence and rape (Outlander). This is refreshing. Please make more series like this.

Show the story; don't just tell it
Too much explanatory, plot-moving, provisional dialogue. Not enough action, and 15 minutes into the pilot, still not one laugh.
