All Empires Collapse Eventually and America is No Exception. From best selling author Bobby Akart, The Loyal Nine is a gripping novel of an America teetering on the edge of economic and societal collapse. Political suspense collides with post-apocalyptic thriller fiction in the bestselling series - The Boston Brahmin. "A terrifyingly realistic, prescient new series ... which can only be described as prophetic." - G. Michael Hopf, best selling author of The New World Series
With social unrest sweeping the country, Europe on the brink of war and the U.S. economy under siege by foreign nations, a new threat emerges. The nation is caught in the crosshairs of a power struggle between wealthy oligarchs and the political leaders who claim to have the country's best interests at heart.
As the collapse events escalate, enter The Loyal Nine - direct descendants of the Founding Fathers, a modern day Knights Templar whose mission is to protect America, and the republic, from those who would inflict tyranny upon her.
But will America be destroyed from within? Conditions of war are building and they do not involve bullets and bombs. There is a new battleground - cyberspace. As the country descends into decline economically and socially, will America be caught off guard by a threat never before experienced - a devastating Cyber War?

The book follows a group of nine people who are preppers and have so much money they can afford all the good toys. They are also all related to founding fathers, although why that matters is unclear.
The book brings in all kinds of current events from prepping, to current politicians, and the rise of Russia as a military and political power. The book even brings in hacker groups and the Tea Party.
Another more sinister group of old money Americans are engaged in manipulating the system for their own benefit.
The book mostly is plausible although really the authors need to get the idea that nudging people in the direction you want them to consider is better than beating them upside the head with it, and the authors do not do an especially good job of that. Subtlety is not their forte, although it is much better in that respect than some other Tea Party fantasy books.
In summation, good read, pretty well edited, especially considering it is from a self published author. Could use some work from an editor to clean up some of the heavy handedness here and there, but that is not so bad that it kills the book as sometimes happens with these kind of books.
I bought the book because I liked a few other books I bought from the author, although one book I bought I started and never finished.
This one starts with helicopter a trip to Martha's Vineyard. To Chilmark House which is on the Southwest part of Martha's Vineyard. The man in the helicopter owns the house which is being used by the POTUS.
On arrival the man is escorted through security and meets with the POTUS. He and the POTUS were at Harvard twenty five years ago. The man, knows the POTUS quite well. He has also been assisting him with his belief that he can serve another term. His third or fourth. The CIC thinks this man, John Morgan, is working with him. Nothing could be further from the truth. Morgan will be telling his group, the Loyal Nine exactly what's going on and what he expects will happen. The Brahmin Nine are indeed a force to be reckoned with.
In the Ukraine an ex US Navy SEAL is meeting with a man named Biletsky who runs the anti Russian faction of the country. Biletsky isn't a trusting sort and the SEAL, call sign Nomad, knows it will take some time to convince him to go along with the plan. A plan that will work to perfection.
At the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, MA, Professor Henry Winthrop Sargent IV is teaching the last class of the semester. Sargent is also one of the Loyal Nine as is his brother Nomad. He and his brother Steve are the godson's of John Morgan.
Donald Quinn, is also part of the Loyal Nine served a sentence for another. A fact that has him living on easy street right now. Quinn is a man with the accounting know how to make any one believe anything he wants them to. He's also a member of the Loyal Nine.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Sargent called Sarge, his brother Steve the ex Navy SEAL, Quinn, Susan his wife, Julia a long time friend with benefits of Sarge's, Julia is a reporter and will land a job in the WH, a job where she will be in the know, Andrew Lau and his cyber hackers a group called Zero Day Gamers, the house on Tremont Street that is more than just a house, Senator Abigail Morgan, another of the Loyal Nine, her father John Morgan who leads the Loyal Nine, a John Morgan who knows what is going to happen, a Morgan who has taken steps to insure the survival of the Nine, the Nine who will bring the fight to the WH and the idiot who is the current CIC, Malcolm Lowe, his assistant, Walter Cabot, Hancock, Tudor, Warren, Bradlee, Crowinshield, Winthrop, Endicott, Peabody, Sargent, Adams and Morgan are all members of the Loyal Nine, they are also direct decendents of the Founding Fathers, Katherine O'Shea Nomads frequent bed partner and a woman he could love, Katie worked for Naval Intelligence while Steve was a Navy SEAL, a trip to Lausanne, Switzerland for Nomad, Slash, Bugs and Sharpie team Aegis, a team who works for the Loyal Nine and John Morgan, a team with a mission to kill ISIS jihadists who are there to kill those in the conference, jihadists that turn out to be Mossad, not jihadists, watchers who the team kill, Dr. John Joseph Warren, JJ to his friends, ex Army Major and a doctor, the culinary union, a blackout in Las Vegas, a Sarge and Julia who view it firsthand, death, destruction, the gamers who are responsible for the blackout, a mall where black lives matter riot, a long list of events to bring the country down and the Loyal nine who will survive and to their best to survive and hopefully save as many as they can.
Five Stars. Super read.
Authors Bobby Akart, and Steve Konkoly have created a story pulled from today's headlines, yet it brings you behind the scenes and introduces you to those who are really in control. Remember the Sony Pictures Entertainment hack? In this novel you will be amazed by professional computer hackers as they shut down huge businesses, and bring a major city to it's knees by taking complete control of the electrical power system causing mass hysteria and death. All of this destruction perpetrated by the hackers was done for the feel of power and the lowly dollar.
The writers mix history, of the Boston Brahmin, with modern cyber warfare and black-ops executions that are intended to influence the outcome of the struggles within and between warring countries. Is this a bad thing that is done? Does it matter if a certain nation plays good-cop, bad-cop with another nation?
We get a glimpse into how the world banking system works and how close America is to total financial collapse. The term, "velocity of money," is totally new to me, and probably to you, the reader, as well. Get used to the new term.
The union walk-outs, timed to do the most damage, leaves me with a sour image of any kind of organized labor movement that can cause such large scale disruption in essential services, that it leads to deaths of those who depend on that service.
Steve Konkoly is a seasoned writer having produced four black-ops novels in the Blacked Flagged series. Also, Steve is known for Jakarta Pandemic which led to The Perseid Collapse Series. He is a dedicated prepped who shares his knowledge with those who understand the need to watch and be prepared.
Bobby Akart, and his wife, Dani, are the ultimate peppers. Writing fiction is new to Bobby, however, his novella, "Evil Meet Opportunity," in the Kindle Worlds, The Perseid Collapse Series, is a best seller on Amazon. I think Bobby was surprised by the success and acceptance of his first novella. In The Loyal Nine, Bobby gets to exercise his new found talent with astonishing precision for a newbie. Each character has depth and feeling that is usually only found among authors who are well known for being on the NYT best seller list. There are so many characters that I had to make a list to keep up with them, (well maybe not that many,) but Bobby handles them well. We get to meet the isolated, multi-controlling, billionaire, and on down the line to almost ordinary people, like Donald and his wife, Susan, who are deep-thinkers of "preparedness."
This book, The Loyal Nine, is a worthy beginning to The Boston Brahmin Series. I recommend reading this book to anyone who has the nerve to find out how the world really works and that we are controlled by the very, super wealthy, and powerful few. As always, happy reading.

To be honest I am getting a little fed up of books that have a BEGINNING and a MIDDLE and A HOOK. NO ending.
ESPECIALLY - when, as in this case, one might have to wait six months for the HOOK book to be published ... by then I have read 100 more books and the point of the Loyal Nine is lost to me ... so do I buy Book 2?.... even if I do I probably have to skim book 1 again to reset the mind and is exactly the same thing going to happen? (i.e....nothing). If so I am definitely NOT going to buy Book 3! which is a shame because the author obviously has a good story in him.
This is a really good book with an old idea re-worked very well even if it is a little parochial (Boston rules the world!). The hook isn't really needed, the storyline would have stood on its own.
What was needed was a definitive "story end".... Read a Mark Dawson book for example he will show you how to end a (serial) book, or if you need an example of an author within your own genre try a Noah Mann novel. Each one stands on its own and yet creates the hook for the author to buy the next in the series.

In todays day and age when things like Greece are going to become the norm (bank holidays, debt problems, etc) then this is an author you want to read.
Cant wait for the rest of the series to come out and I will be reading them all.
