Simple film which draws you in

Very interesting and well done story. All performances were very good. Even though she did not get a chance to really spread her wings in this production, Siobhan Finnegan is always a plus in any film. Her mere presence in a film just seems to automatically elevate it to a higher level.

Knowing nothing of this story prior to watching it, I was surprised at the veering off midway in the narrative, to turn the story down a different path than I was expecting. This actually added a dimension to the whole thing which I found quite engrossing.

Very nice, unpretentious film well worth watching.

the reason I gave this miniseries four stars is because Gemma Whelan is absolutely brilliant as Karen Matthews

First off, the reason I gave this miniseries four stars is because Gemma Whelan is absolutely brilliant as Karen Matthews. It's chilling to see how well she carried off Karen's looks and mannerisms. Karen Matthews is an abomination. I feel like the series missed key points to Shannon's story. They almost made her seem like a figment of the imagination.. Listen to the Casefile Podcast on Shannon Matthews if you want to know more about this case. Poor Shannon lost her identity, her friends, her family, all because of her mother's decisions.

I keep thinking these are shows, but they're more mini-series which is fine. I like how it was based on true events. Very good watch.

I can't believe everyone is rating this show based on the acting,.. Oh ! all the praise !
No one has even mentioned the fact that all this really happens. What has the country, the city, the community done but sit around and do nothing, when they allow a grown woman with the IQ of a 12 year old, continue to have children.
This is a pathetic situation, and even more sad that they would make a movie about it,..
I stopped watching when the step dad started acting like a child , as well.
Very sad, that authorities in this world don't step in and place mandatory birth control , after family counseling sessions, at the beginning of all couples. Married or not, they don't get government help without drug testing and birth control.
There is a way to do it,... It just takes government that cares,.....otherwise,..this is what happens.
