I have enough drama in my real life so when I pick up a book to read, I want to be entertained and happy. Liv Beaufont is definitely entertaining and snarky. I'd love to go partying with her. She doesn't want anything to do with magic, but in order to keep her family's legacy alive, she must accept her magic and take her place working for the Council, enforcing laws that she doesn't believe in. With a lot of humor, and a magical Lynx, Liv shows that she can handle whatever life throws at her.

This is my favorite series so far ! Liv has to embrace her magic as she trains to be a magician Warrier. Her relationship with her magical cat Plato and her giant friend Rory are a lot to read and root for as Rory begins training Liv to embrace her magic and become a magician Warrior. This new series is delightful with its quick humor, fast action, intrigue and adventure. It rivals the Harry Potter series! I loved it and can't wait for the next book in this awesome series!

Meh, unlikable characters, jumpy plot and average at best

I nearly gave up on this one after reading the sample but gave it a go anyway. The beginning is jumpy and by that I mean it starts telling a bit of the story and just jumps forward without explaining what the girl actually did. That stops after a while but then you have to deal with this pretty unlikable heroine and all these other characters that are just as flawed.

I found the world building, or the way magic is used, to be pretty bland and stale. This has all been done before in other books that are way better. The familiars are the most interesting characters but the writing is so obvious that you know where this is all leading all the time. Might be ok as a book for bed time reading to the grandkids. Can't really recommend this one as I just could not like the characters or get interested in the story.

Sarah Noffke has crafted a complete world with dark backstories that our feisty protagonist Liv has to contend with while simultaneously trying to spool up her magic talents that were put on lockdown when she was a rebellious child. Add in some help from out of the ordinary characters that she has befriended, and that have chosen her for mysterious reasons, and poof! You have another bingeworthy series! Here's hoping there will be lots more of Liv and her story!

This is an amazing Ass kicking story about a powerful young magician and her struggle within a magical hierarchy set up to control and conceal magic. Or is it? Liv is a member of one of the founders of the House of seven. But she left, abandoning her magic and her family because when her parents died under suspicious circumstances. The House brushed all of her concerns under the proverbial rug, and Olivia believes they may have something to do with not only her parents deaths, but now her older brother and sister too.

Go on a journey with Liv back into a life filled with magic, friendship, and intrigue as she learns the truth of what's going on in the House of Seven.

I highly recommend this book to magic lovers everywhere.

Liz Beaumont, who abdicated her birthright, steps up brazenly with enough sass to quell the entire House of Seven. Sarahhas the uncanny ability to create my favorite type of female heroine, being sassy, absolutely hilarious with an amazingly moral fortitude! It's 2:03 A.m. I started this at 10:30 P.m. Okay so we have another kick ass heroine who hates pretentious snobs and who I couldn’t help but like right from the start. Well come on she’s got a cat sidekick what’s not to like? This is one of those fun up and at 'em books. The plot rolls along at a good pace yet doesn’t roll over reader leaving leaving them confused. There’s enough ends left trailing to keep readers interested in the next book yet at the same time feeling as if the book hasn’t ended on a complete cliff hanger. (Yea, yea okay there is a bit of a cliff hanger and I’m happy I can go and download the next book immediately). Yes I’ve enjoyed this as I have most of the books Michael has had a hand in, good to see another partener and I will be looking at other books Sarah has written. If you want a fun book with a bit of seriousness, a cat sidekick, a helpful giant who loves gardening and cooking and with a whole heap of magic thrown in this is for you.

A nicely written opening book in a series. The main character (despite being part of the magical world) is somewhat ignorant of a lot of the details, meaning we get to learn along with her. This makes explaining the setting to the reader somewhat natural rather than feeling forced or disjointed.

Add in some fascinating characters you want to learn more about, along with several unanswered questions with a tacit promise to explain more later, and you have a book that draws into the series and wanting to know more.
