The Two Lila Bennetts Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
"One fateful decision. Two unexpected endings. A perfect summer read!" --Wendy Walker, bestselling author of The Night Before
Lila Bennett's bad choices have finally caught up with her. And one of those decisions has split her life in two. Literally.
In one life, she's taken hostage by someone who appears to be a stranger but knows too much. As she's trapped in a concrete cell, her kidnapper forces her to face what she's done or be killed. In an alternate life, she eludes her captor but is hunted by someone who is dismantling her happiness, exposing one secret at a time.
Lila's decorated career as a criminal defense attorney, her marriage, and her life are on the line. She must make a list of those she's wronged - both in and out of the courtroom - to determine who is out to get her before it's too late. But even if she can pinpoint her assailant, will she survive? And if she does, which parts of her life are worth saving, and which parts must die? Because one thing's for certain - life as Lila Bennett knew it is over.

I think the highest compliment you can pay an author is to finish a book at one sitting. I read this way past my bedtime as I had to find out what was going to happen to Leila. I think the highest compliment you can pay an author, or in this case authors, is to be so captivated to devour a book at one sitting. I read this way past my bedtime as I had to find out what was going to happen to Leila. If you are looking for a roller coaster of a novel you need to read this book as each chapter brings twists and turns.
Lila Bennett is an uber successful criminal defense attorney who made questionable choices regarding her life and career. We are shown how her choices affect her career, marriage, relationships with her Mother and friends. In this novel, which can be viewed as an homage to the movie Sliding Doors, Lila is presented with two alternatives to counter her choices.
Well reading this book I struggled with some of the decisions Lila made and yet found her determination for redemption uplifting.
This was an excellent read and I encourage you to experience The Two Lila Bennetts.
Lila Bennett is going to make a choice - go home to her waiting husband or have drinks with her boss. Life choices leading us down different roads. This is a story of choices and their consequences. How the lies we tell, whether intentional or by omission, can have a significant impact, not only on our own life, but the lives of others.
This is essentially two different stories of Lila Bennett told in parallel. One story is about Lila choosing to go home to her husband and the resulting consequences; the other, Lila chooses to have drinks with her boss, and the consequences of that choice. Her choices result in quite different outcomes.
This book had me hooked from the start; loved the concept/plot. The chapters tend to alternate between Lila's choices and the format works quite well. Well written; I binge read in one sitting!
You have to read this novel. The ending will surprise you.
