Cassie or what ever her name is shown of said I got mega a word and not I got mega b word when her behind presumably enlarged when Cassie was morphing in to a horse on this book other than that this is a good book a I had a great experience with this product here

I love the animorph saga and recently rediscovered it via kindle. Book 14 is not a very strong addition to the saga, however. Cassie as a character was always a struggle to relate to. At least until later in the series when she becomes a controller. This pointless low stakes adventure matched “perfectly” with her storytelling style to create a forgetful story. Best to skip and move on to book 15.

While this isn't the most gripping plot written for the Animorphs there's a great deal of tongue-in-cheek humor in it. The mission is to spy on horses which have been infested by Yeerks (see Animorphs 1: The Invasion). To what end, they can't imagine, but it obviously has something to do with "The Holy Grail of Conspiracy nuts" Zone 91. This spoof of Area 51 is a high security military base which is guarding The Most Secret Thing on Earth. Notice the importance stressed by every first letter being capitalized. Some of the other reviews mention what it is, but I'm not going to spoil the fun if you're about to read the book. It turns out to obviously be an alien artifact, and the Yeerks want it so they can wipe out any and all proof that humans might make a connection that there really is alien life in the universe. The Animorphs go through an interesting process of acquiring the DNA of race horses so they can morph into them and infiltrate the dreaded Zone 91, involving explaining Ax as a blue horse. "Someday all horses will be blue," they lamely explain as they're caught, are forced to scatter, and Cassie ends up on the race track. The plot isn't the strongest in this one, but the book is simply a lot of fun. Cassie gets a bit more development in the fact she simply is not the coolest person under fire, which leads to even more humor. Marco, as always is the witty one with the quick logic to make the insane suddenly wise. For people who may have enjoyed X-Files and similar programs, but don't take the Area 51 conspiracy theory too seriously, this is a great, quick read, full of good laughs.

Goofy, inconsequential fun

It's hard to pick the single goofiest element of this story. Is it the Yeerks infesting wild horses -- the first earth animal hosts we've seen -- to sneak into the setting's equivalent of Area 51 and discover what the government is hiding there? Is it the ultimate punchline of the secret artifact being an alien toilet, one of several pieces of potty humor throughout the text? Is it the team getting caught on-base by the military, giving their names as 90s pop culture figures like Fox Mulder, and escaping as cockroaches clutched in Tobias's talons? Is it our protagonist morphing into a horse herself and racing to qualify for the Kentucky Derby? Or maybe the final climactic showdown at the local amusement park, in which oblivious human onlookers think the fierce combat they're witnessing is part of the House of Horrors ride?

Don't get me wrong -- this book is deliriously fun to read, particularly with the additional nostalgia factor of coming back to it decades later. It's just missing the weight and personal stakes that I most appreciate in the Animorphs series. Everything feels rather inconsequential and cartoonish, which can be a nice breather amid the darkness of some other volumes but is never going to capture my attention as fully. Cassie doesn't even raise any deep moral questions for her friends to ponder, for once. It's overall a pretty silly time, give or take the customary scenes of body horror and the underlying premise of the larger franchise that remains.

I'm pretty sure this one was just filler, but the Yeerks storming area 51 as horses and then rampaging through Disneyland was too funny.

On a side note, the audiobook narrator for Cassie is perfect!
