Fun Fun
This tv show from the mid-1990s has a feeling sort of like Pee Wee’s Playhouse. It has a similar kiddie show format but with an edge of satire and sophistication about itself and the standard TV show routines.

We have Weird Al as the genial wacky host in a cartoon-like saturated color set with no right angles. It’s otherworldly, like a dayglow Cabinet of Dr Caligari, but fun fun and beautiful, not menacing and ugly.
This set was designed by Wayne White who did the sets Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Beakman’s World, as well as directing Peter Gabriel’s Big Time video.
There is a cast of regulars who show up and regular features like Weird Al’s Mailbox. Each show has a sort of dilemma Weird Al has to find his way through. There are a few special guests.
It’s good entertainment at a brisk 21 minutes per-episode. It was made for commercial TV.
“Fun for the whole family!”

Poor delivery the ruin of great gags, jokes.
I'd just found out this show existed today, so had to give an episode a whirl. The plot spelled out in the details sounded so fascinating, I mean, how could it go wrong? It did go wrong, but not in spectacular fashion. The jokes simply sat there, like cold lumps, as if this whole show were directed by a bitter and melancholy Soviet. Poor Weird Al! there was nothing wrong with the jokes, just get a different camera guy. Or something.
