Think Like A Man was the first of three romantic-comedies produced by Will Packer. It focused upon four couples and two friends Michael (Terrence J) and Candace (Regina Hall), Dominic (Michael Ealy) and Lauren (Taraj P. Henson), Zeke (Romany Malco) and Mya (Meagan Good), and Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara) and Kristen (Gabrielle Union) along with Cedric (Kevin Hart) and Bennett (Gary Owen). The men all believe that they are doing good but the women all find out about a book by Steve Harvey called Think Like A Man that completely changes how they look at relationships. Mya is the one effected the most telling Zeke that they have to go on 90 dates before they have sex. They even have to go out several times before he can go inside her house. Kristen demands that Jeremy who is a slacker grow up and apply himself and get a job. Steve Harvey constantly appears in the film explaining his main points about men and women. The question was could the men adapt and save their relationships?
Of course, there’s lots of comedy as well. For instance, when all the men are having a drink they ask Bennett if white men are born with good credit. He says yes. Later Jeremy said that Bennett wasn’t white he was clear. Or there’s when Michael drops Candace off at home after a date and her son opens the door and asks him did he touch his mama?
The success of the movie came from screenplay writers Keith Marryman and David Newman creating different types of relationships and interesting character interactions. There were plenty of laughs along the way.
