This docu-series is absolutely amazing. Chock full of information put in ways a 5 year old could understand. The absolutely hilarious thing is actually all the 1 star reviews! Summing it up is pretty easy. If you have something against a show that is completely devoid of opinions, and completely full of facts (sited facts, studied facts, historical facts, interviews with people who have proof of facts demonstrating the differences between opion/theory, and FACT), then you don't actually have a problem with the SHOW, you have a problem with the FACTS. There isn't one statement in this series that isn't backed up by ACTUAL, FACTUAL, INFORMATION. The only problems you could have with a show built around facts is maybe the filming techniques, the actors used, etc. BUT, all the 1 star reviews are from people calling this "propoganda", and "one sided". I'm guessing they didn't actually watch the show? It lays out BOTH the good, and the bad of Capitolism, AND it shows the differences between "evil" capitolism, and "good" capitolism. It's a far cry from BOTH left, and right opinon based shows. If you really believe it's worth 1 star because of the content then there's really only a few reasons you'd feel that way seeing as it's a fact based show.
1. You either don't understand capitolism, or you think you do because you listened to someone who actually does.
2. You DO understand capitolism, and you use it to your advantage whilest taking advantage of a populace, and a show
like this points out ways of doing dastardly deeds.
3. You DO understand capitolism, but don't see any harm in the way people are treated because of it. Meaning you
don't care about any of the "bad" parts of capitolism.
4. You DO understand capitolism, and like to remain oblivious to the consequences. (At least until theres a trade
sanction in your industry leading to thousands of layoffs. i.e. Mid-Continent Nail, Harley-Davidson, SEMO Box, Trans-
Matic, Vintage Industrial, etc.)
5. You've made a good life for yourself with a capitolist centered way of doing things, and are scared of the rest of the
populace understanding how you did it. Either because of basic greed (i.e are interested in keeping a monopoly to
yourself), or because you're afraid the populace will figure out WHAT was done to them, and HOW, and WHY.
6. You may, or may not understand it, but also don't WANT to because if you did then you may figure out some truths
about yourself, or loved ones that you would have a hard time swallowing. Most people are okay living in a naive, but
comfortable world where if they really understood certain practices then they'd probably hate themselves, or others.
Humans don't like this. We prefer being comfortable with ourselves, our surroundings, and living in a way where the
problems we either create, or live with aren't focused on. (Probably the group with the highest
amount of people). Most people don't understand THIS classification either. Just because certain practices of
capitalism are harmful, or downright immoral DOES NOT MEAN that the all the people who practice capitalism, or
benefit from it are inherently wrong, or evil.
Honestly the list can go on, and on, but you'll start to see a pattern. People who are upset by the FACTS of a show about capitolism either benefit from it, don't care about it's effects on the regular populace, are embarrased by what they've done and don't want it getting out, or alittle bit everything and then some. BUT, this show actually goes into moral capitolism, and how it can have a beneficial effect on everyone. Including showing a few companies that pratice it. How can you be upset with a show that also shows the good side of a topic, and spout nonesense about it's only a 1-sided view? People can be so funny.
The best part about this show is how they explain the benefits of capitolism, and how it can practiced with a moral center. Which are most certainly FACTS that people including, and like the "1-star" reviewers missed when they stopped wathcing the show 10 minutes into the 1st episode. Watch the whole show THEN if you really do don't like it you can give an actual example instead of the generics like "If it's anti-capitolist, then it's anti-American.", or "They have no idea what they're talking about." Because, and I'll only say it once more, they DO because THESE ARE FACTS. If you watched a show that demonstrated both the good and the bad about gravity, and how we can all live happier, better lives by limiting the bad practices of gravity, and focusing on building up the good parts then it's still a factual show about gravity that people can watch, and adapt their lives to! Then you'll realize there are reasons why people who practice the "bad" parts of gravity don't want you understanding gravity. They COULD practice the "good" qualities of gravity (capitolism), but they choose not to. This show talks about THAT, and is in no way a "capitolism is all bad" type of program.
I can be upset about a show on gravity, but that doesn't change the FACTS about gravity. I can be mad at people pointing out the facts about gravity, or be upset with HOW they've talked about gravity facts, BUT IT STILL DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACTS ABOUT GRAVITY just like opinons on capitolism don't change the FACTS about capitolism.
I'm sure I'll get some flak for all that, but I just thought it was important to show people who are truly interested in this topic that if they really read the bad reviews they'd realize not a single one talks about the show, they're just upset with the facts. Oh man those people are super fun haha! Actually watch the show, THEN make up your own opinions on it.
In the end this show does a great job of exploring the immoral, and moral sides of capitalism. Both the drawbacks, and benefits of it's current practices around the world. If you are one of the people who take issue with this show then it is because the facts make you ill at ease for any number of reasons. So instead of looking at this show with the skewed "Anyone who's against it is wrong, and doesn't know what they're talking about." view, look at it how the film makers intended. Capitalism is everywhere, and in everything. Some parts are good, some are bad. The fact that we COULD change things, pass laws, or boycott certain companies we feel are abusing capitalism for their own goals are good things, and a blanket "This show is wrong." just doesn't work.
